(Much of this is 100-square). SportAccord has licensing for publishing official results. Round 1 in progress. Moiseyev-Borghetti 2 draws. King and Lubabalo playing now. 2 games a day times 6 days with rest day in between.

We should start getting coverage on SportAccord site (that I previously mentioned). They asked me for the Day 1 info, but sent this request to my work e-mail, which I can't access from here for some reason -- just my msn account. (Wifi is limited here.) Alex missed a win against Borghetti in Rd. 1. Borghetti made a nice draw under a bridge afterwards.

Several Chinese folks anxiously met with me this week to get any info, materials, etc. they could get about Checkers! One youth coach even inquired about taking a group to USA for checkers training.

I know that Alex - Miki was two draws. But what about Ron - Lubabalo and Alex - Lubabalo? Two draws or one win each?

Seems like finally Ron learnt to take a draw against Miki

I just got the information that Ron won the 1st game against Lubablo in Round one, but lost the 2nd game.

So two draws and two decided games in round one and at least one decided game in round two.

The opening played between Moiseyev and Borghetti is 9-13 22-18 10-15.
While Borghetti and King played 9-14 22-18 10-15.

Some brief notes: Kondlo win on King was on time forfeit (Ron again oblivious to what digital clock said), even though they had drawable 3x3 ending.

Round 3 just started. Borghetti-Kondlo playing Black Hole, but Lubabablo jumped 7-14? and trying to survive. (Lub. also went into early pp loss on King from 10-14 22-18 7-10 25-22 11-16 29-25 16-19 instead of 8-11*.

UPDATE: Kondlo did lose that first game, but won the second game on position in a mere 40 minutes. Alex-Ron wih 1 draw on 2nd game.

Amazing, 1 of my favorite openings.

Kondlo's lack of pp knowledge seems to be his biggest weakness so far. A grandmaster should know both of those moves.

Yes, 3-move is more a game of memory (you have to know the defenses in weak openings, which are not there in GAYP plus you get a memory advance for 156 openings, not just for your GAYP repertoire, in which you and your opponent plays from a sound and equal postion with good scope, so that you can solve difficult postions on the board with skill) and less skill (basically it is over before skill matters) then GAYP, but we knew that before and the rules were known in advance.

Also the luck factor is decisive, as you have your pet openings to be ballotted and opening difficulty does not depend on the players charakter but on chance, not to mention that in a tournament the opening difficulty is not fairly distributed.

This is a very good example of how much the game suffers from these influences, and why it is not attractive in this way and somehow simply unfair and why 3-move is not a real test of playing strenghts.
