I am about 90% sure I am going. I have a few questions

What are the room rates?

Anyone interested in splitting a room?

Does the shuttle still run from the airport to the lodging?

How far is the lodging from Libby's?

What is there to do in the area not checkers related? IE: Bars, Clubs, Gambling, Shows, nightlife in general?

Thanks ;)

I don't know if they have discounts for checker players but you can ask.

Yes, it will be guarantee, no questions. The question is - WHEN ? The biggest problem is - I played 11 man ballot World title match against Tim Laverty in 2011, against Richard Beckwith in 2012 and now we have 2013.

Other WCDF major titles - GAYP and 3 moves, have 2 years cycles and matches are played every second year.

For 11 man ballott title cycle we need transition period and set it to be played every two years.

However, in other hands I fully support an idea to run National every year - this is great tradition.

So ... we need to work on this and make some decision. I am planning in this cycle (2013-2014) to play in GAYP QT and eventually (cross fingers :D ) - GAYP World Title Match. If I win this match and title - it will be quite challenging for me to support timely and accurately all 3 titles at once.

Respectfully,

A. Moiseyev

This topic should be discussed in pre-tournament meeting and decision made amongst top 11-Man players. A reasonable suggestion submitted to WCDF & ACF to be amended to WTM rules.

I will be playing in this tournament. If my son's mother will let him go, Alex Holmes will be playing in it too. Still having trouble with her not doing the right thing but we will see. Alex and I have been playing in chess tournaments and we have also been playing war games. Honestly, I think he is better than me in both of them. I think Alex Holmes would do really good in this 11-man ballot as it would just be who could see the best in each position rather than book knowledge. He seems to understand the many ending possiblities and I am proud to be his dad. If both Alex's play in this tourney I will have to struggle just to get in the top five!
God willing I will see many people at this tournament.

So far looks like a really strong lineup for this tournament. Both the Holmes, Alex M, and Eric. I would expect Tim and Teal to be there as well. Would love to make it, but way to busy with work and needing to save up money for a house. Will look to make this tournament next year!

Michael, the right and probably best thing will be - if some day you stay at home and Alex takes his mom to checkers event. It should be state weekend or long weekend event and she will have a great chance and opportunity to learn more about checkers, checkers players, fraturnity, atmosphere etc.

The Russian proverb says: "It is better one time to see than 100 times to hear !"

All after all - it will be at least just fun weekend for her with small reasonable expances.

Unfortunetly I won't be making TN this year either. But will make the PA and 50 percent chance for making nationals, all a matter of finances.
