USA Match
Is it possible to have a USA Match vs Barbados again? What about right after the WQT Tournament?

Re: USA Match
Hi George (and other viewers),
We had a very successful USA-Barbados match coupled with the 1st World Qualifier back in 2004 in Barbados. (The GAYP match was won by USA, but the margin of victory was only 3 games. Loy's "Barbados 2004" book has the story and games.) Each side had 10 players, a couple alternates and officials. So Michael's idea does have appeal, as coupling with a Barbados qualifer is as good as time as any.
To answer your question "Why not?" raises many logistical considerations. The host country typically provides some degree of hospitality (meals, playing facility, maybe hotel) to make it attractive to the visiting team and their officials, who will already be paying their own airfare, etc. The impetus would be on Barbados to financially fund this, and much work would be needed from both sides to coordinate details -- volunteers would need to be identified. Suki has been working on preparations for the qualifier, but he has never mentioned anything to me about hosting an additional international match, so I don't know what his interest level is here. Secondly, we would have to find enough strong US players willing to go, and someone would have to determine what the size of each team such be in today's era. For example, Alex Moiseyev and I have limited time we can take vacation in a given calendar year. If Alex and I play in the qualifier (our original intention), then we likely can't stay another week for a match.
We also still have the USA-South Africa match idea dangling for February 2014.

Richard / Michael,
Suki mentioned something in Bejing regarding "World against Barbados" GAYP match ... before or after QT. It's not a bad idea and I really like it. Don't know details. At the time in Beijing it sounded like one of many Suki dreams
Extra week doesn't work for me but 2-3 extra days ... hmmm have to think. It will not be a good World without me haha !!!

Re: USA Match
Two or three extra days for BIG MATCH makes everything easier. funds would be easier to find and so would players. My son and I could play in MATCH and so could Chuck.
