Joe, think about ... you just simply agreed that the process of stailization is still in progress. We can only discuss if it's done 40%, 75%, or 95%. My opinion is - due to small number of events and active players, we are still around of 50% stabilization. If you and ACF think it is enough to use it for more serious decisions (pairing, Divisions etc) - it's OK.Chexhero wrote:Alex,
What happened after Nationals last year? I believe your rating went up nearly 100 points. Do you know why that was? Because # 1, masters included only high rated players, meaning division placement was used effectively. #2, ballot scoring was used. This allowed you to win almost all your rounds. Now, you put those things into place more consistently, your rating would not be dropping So based on those facts, it is unfair to just blaim the formula and system for your rating changes. It does not punish active players, rather it can be tough on those who are only playing much lower rated players, of course that is not your fault. Your rating is not the only that has decreased over the years either. Higher rated players went down, lower rated players went up, making for a more competitive system, that is the way it works. Among active players who do play consistently, you are way ahead of everyone. That is proof the system is doing something right.
You also agreed that in high level events with strong players it works better for me.
I drewed round with Chuck Freeman and don't see anything wrong with this. But this hardly impact my rating because his rating is lower expectations. And same thing happen over and over in local states events when I play with with people at all levels.
YES, scoring per ballot system which I proposed 6-8 years ago and which was adopted recently in National, is much better, more accurate and matching to real 3-moves spirit.
Good luck to everyone. Once I continue to e active - it will make all my opponents happy (but not me!) with rating changes. So be it !
Liam, it consistent with what I said. This toy (rating) is addictive haha ! People pay to it much more attention than it's ptobably desire. But I really don't want when later (or maybe now ?) people use all these numbers for any conclusions or speculations.
As of today - if your rating is growing, it simply doesn't mean you improve, it only means that your rating is lower than it suppose to be.

Joe / Eric, good luck in your journey !
