Michael,

Unfortunately, I can't provided an expected date. Igor Keder graciously (without pay) put out several ratings lists. However, he appeared too busy to continue, even though i feel he had good intentions. Ingo Zachos subsequently took over, but we seem to be experiencing the exact same situation.

The WCDF rules are downloadable from ACF/Classroom menu. (Or I can send by e-mail when I return)

Either he is offering to do the ratings himself or he is threatening to go and play chess....

The ACF ratings are up to date! Considering this is an ACF forum I would say that that "we" are doing fine in that area... Those ratings also include just about every tournament, which means that everyone is rated, not just ACF members. My question is, how long until the ACF takes over the WCDF? This would be a good direction to move, in my opinion.

Eric .... perhaps that is not a bad idea.... but if the ACF takes over will they just take what is best for USA into account or will they be able to put the growth of the game in other parts of the world as a priority? Whenever I hear people in this forum opining on the WCDF the views put forth are usually isolationist in nature.... i.e. checkers is ok here ... we don't need anyone else.
Until we realize that the best thing for checkers EVERYWHERE is for it to grow in many different countries and that eventually that growth in other places will immensely benefit the established countries (USA, Barbados, UK, Italy) as well. Isolationism will not help our game.

I personally would sincerely like to hear how you propose the ACF takes over

Dear checker/draughts friends,

for personal reasons I could not post much on this forum and was occupied with other things then checkers/draughts for the last months.

All events of 2012 have, however, been collected and most are already calculated. During the holidays of may I intend to finsh my work.

If you find more mistakes on the last rating list

http://www.wcdf.net/ratings.htm

feel free to post them here or write it in an email to me : nimzo@gmx.de

Everything will be corrected in the next list.

To Danny:
I am afraid your name will not appear on the next rating list, sorry for that ...

To all:

true, delays like that do not happen in chess, but the FIDE also asks for fees in order to get your events rated. This allows them to calculate on a monthly basis, but I am afraid that for the short-term future neither the WCDF nor the ACF or anyone else will pay a team of professional mathematicians to do the job. Instead, someone must volunteer from the checker/draughts community, and he or she will spent many hours on it, but not get any compensation for that.

Ingo.... i have no problem with being or not on the ratings list.... the way i see it ... if i lived in the northern hemisphere i would have a rating
Unless someone is willing to host a tournament here in Australia or help me travel over 10 thousand kilometres to the northern hemisphere i don't see how i could acquire a rating...
I am devoid of time (some would argue that i also lack talent) to take ratings THAT seriously....
the way i look at it ...we should concentrate on getting more people to the game rather than worrying about ratings....
we worry, argue and get distracted over the little things and leave the massive things alone...

cheers

Danny, when we (my wife and I) go to Australia (within the next 2 years is the plan) perhaps we could play a match and you could get rated that way? Anyway, could you assist in helping us find a reasonable place to stay?

i can definitely help you out . let me know a few months b4 you book the flights and i can give you some help. As far as the match goes i am sure you can beat me with your eyes closed and one arm tied behind your back :P
