Contest #13 started yesterday. As of this writing, there already have been 20 visitors to the contest page, but no votes. How do we explain that?
We certainly hope most of the visitors will return and help us decide the winner by casting their votes. If they do not, we will be very disappointed.
Non-voting contestants frequently visit to check on how the voting is going, but there are not 20 of us.
Any comments?

Re: Problem Composing Contest Started Yesterday
Greetings Bill,
For the contests, I visit the page many times before I actually cast my vote. Of the twenty that have been there, two of them are mine (!) I go through the problems many times before deciding. These contests are excellent ! I promote them each month on the homepage of the OMOCH site.....I have not voted yet, but I will after a few more close looks. Keep up the good work !
Regards

Re: Problem Composing Contest Started Yesterday
Jay,
I just visited the contest page again. The counter stated, "So far 36 visitors have viewed this contest 74 times."
I can understand a mounting number of revisits, including yours and mine.
But visitors like you and me are counted only once. Who are the other 34 visitors, and how many of them will return to vote?
Time will tell.
At the VA Ty last month, JR expressed the opinion that only 1 visitor in 10 would ever vote. And Mike Choate suggested we count the visitors. So that is what we are doing.
It is heartwarming to have so many visitors, even if they end up not voting.

Hi, this is just a note to recognize that the number of visitors (not visits) to the Contest page hit 140 today.
That means there were more than 125 visitors who did not vote for any of the problems.
Perhaps you were one of them. If so, thank you for visiting. But a word of explanation for your non-vote would be welcomed by the composers and the voting minority.

Greetings Bill,
Here is something to consider......I always promote your contests on the OMOCH Homepage, and I get MANY visitors to the OMOCH site who ended up there than for no other reason that they were doing some family history research, and ended up at the OMOCH after googleing an ancestor's name, as a great deal of people are descended from someone mentioned in the OMOCH Timeline......perhaps, while they were there, they clicked the link I provided on the OMOCH Homepage to the contest, realized it was nothing that interested them, and then moved on...it is a possibility.
I , myself, have yet to vote. I usually wait until very near the end, and take several good long looks at the problems.
Again, keep up the good work !!!

Re: Problem Composing Contest Started Yesterday
All,
We should be thankful for all of the visitors to the contest page, a dozen more since just yesterday.
Let's also be thankful that the contest pages are linked to outstanding checker web sites, Jay's OMOCH; Bob Newell's Checker Maven; Igor Martynov's; perhaps others.
Thanks also to the publications carrying the contests, ACFB; MCA Newsletter; EDA Journal, and Lancashire Checkers Newsletter.
Our cups runneth over. Somebody likes us.
