Best Player/Performance of the year

Post by Ingo_Zachos »

Now that the Irish Open have finished, the tournement season is almost over, so I want to ask which performance was outstanding in 2013 and who was the best player of the year?

In 2012 Alex Moiseyey, winning the US nationals and the Sport Daccord in Beijing no doubt topped in both categories.

Who did it in 2012?

Candidates for best player:

1. Michele Borhetti, New World Champion
2. Sergio Scarpetta, Winning the Italian Championship ahead of Miki and the QT by a great score
3. Lubabalo Kondlo, winning the US Nationals
4. Shane McCosker, winning both the Irish Open and the English Open.

Candidates for best performance:

1. Michele Borghetti for his WC match
2. Sergio Scarpetta for both the QT and the Italian Championships
3. Lubabalo Kondlo for the US nationals
4. Jack Francis for the Babados Nationals with a stunning victory over Ron King in the final

The best performance of a female player and the best female player of the year belongs to the new GAYP World Champion Nadiya Chyzhevska, while Alex Holmes was the best Junior player of the year.

I nominate Michelle Borghetti. Changing hands on 3-moves World Title doesn't happen every decade :D and this accomplishment must be recognized and awarded.

If we "combine" 2012 and 2013, we also should recognize another Ladies GAYP and 3-moves double-world champion Nadya Chizhevskaya from Ukraine.
I am playing checkers, not chess.
