Colleagues, we try to make our checker problem composing contests competitive, but this is ridiculous. Unless one of us casts a tie-breaking vote in the final few days of this month, we will have our first 3-way tie.

Contest #17 had very interesting problems that met the theme of the contest. Contest #17 also contrasted well with Contest #16. The problems in #16 were spectacular shots. The problems in #17 were subtle, showing the small margin of victory in Anglo-American Checkers. As always, the debriefing after the contest is entertaining and enlightening!

23-18 with superior endgame (hanging pieces, bad checker on 4) was left out
