I think checkers needs to move forward. chess is beating us by miles.

a lot of people telling me due to the different styles in checkers that's why we don't have the amount of players like chess.

but through the years I seen more counties playing the English style of checkers Italy Denmark Holland to name a few.

I cant wait to we get a real big sponsor in checkers .a grand master is treated like the king of England in chess.

I live in Barbados well suki is well know.but its like this micheal Jordan is the greatest but there still other players that should be known.

Al Darrow calls Don Deweber every Thursday evening and tonight they discussed this question during their phone conversation. They believe the biggest prise ever was the 1939 Studebaker car "Willie" Ryan won at the National Checker Association's Second Cross-board National Tournament held in Tacoma Washington August 28 - September 12, 1939. My research shows that the car weighted about 2,300 pounds. Now that's pretty BIG don't you think! Those cars sold for about $720.oo back then which would be equal to more than $12,000.oo in today's money.

Al says that there's a picture of Ryan standing along side the car on page 179 of the American Checkerist Magazine.

2012 SportAccord. Prize was $5000 (as a demonstration event), but flights (to Beijing), hotel and meals were covered for Ron, Alex, Lubabalo and Miki. The deal may be better this year, but it's unclear how many spots FMJD will permit.
