Do not worry Kent, the WCDF only promotes checkers and does not plan to demote anyone.

Our titles are given for a lifetime. Ron King will always be a Grandmaster and World Champion, but this with the small addition World Champion (GAYP) from 1991- 2014.
And even after death the titles are still available for any orbituary, biography, gravestone or history book ...

But concerning your recognition as a master in the tournaments in Barbados I guess you have to ask your local organisation.

I think an important distinction would be someone's current rating level, and someone's earned title. To earn the title Master or Grand Master one must meet certain norms like performing very well in big tournaments. While someone's rating could be 2000 at a master level, that could go up or down at the next tournament!
So having a rating at master level and having the title Master is not the same thing. One could be at a master level rating and not have the title Master. On the other hand, one could have the lifetime title Master while going down in the ratings to a major (or even minor) level. From what I am reading, chess has had a problem with Ratings Inflation due to Chess Masters being granted a rating that can not fall below a certain level. The rating IMHO should always be performance based, but the
title of Master is permanent. It has been a while since the WCDF has updated ratings, or granted new Master Titles.

I don't know when the ACF will next update ratings, but this is the link to the ratings from a tab on the ACF home page:

http://www.usacheckers.com/acfratings.php

It was last updated in MARCH 2014.
