An excellent question and one which I had thought about :D I will ask Dr John Reade about this as it is important, especially for players with high expenses who travel from the USA and so on. The venue is only 80 miles from my home so no great expense to travel there and back. Should any player have questions about accommodation I can certainly give good advice on great places to stay, near the venue and good prices.

Yes indeed. I am awaiting a reply from Dr Reade concerning the prize money. As a frequent visitor to Knighton over the past thirty years I have stayed at many different types of accommodation and will naturally provide as much information on this very soon also. There are some wonderful places to stay at reasonable prices and not so good ones!

In reply to my question to Dr John Reade concerning prize money for the qualifying tournament he had this to say, which I felt was fair enough:

"Lindus,

It's too early to say yet.

It depends on what WCDF funds are available in 6 months time, and what donations we receive between now and then.

John."

Concerning accommodation:

The following link gives details of accommodation at the Knighton Hotel, where the qualifying tournament will be played:

This following link provides information on Knighton's accommodation, places to eat and so on:

This link shows the Horse and Jockey which is immediately across the road from the venue. A great place to dine.

My recommendation is to book as early as possible at the Knighton Hotel or at the Horse and Jockey Inn. Both establishments provide quality rooms and food.

Manchester Airport is recommended. There is a good train service to Knighton from Manchester.

Thanks Mr. Reade. It appears Dr. Beckwith and Jim Morrison will be representing the ACF. Chuck Freeman will be representing the ICHF. Dr. Webster will decide in a few weeks if he too will represent the ICHF. We hope other Americans decide to go too. Alex Holmes is thinking about representing Indiana. Joe Moore, Joe Schwartz and Richard Hallett have decided not to go.

Nominations for the GAYP Qualifiers 2015
Barbados (BCDF)

England: David Harwood Tony Boyle

Germany: Igor Martynov

Scotland : Colin Young
Anthony Rose

Ukraine (UDF) : Oleksandr Kolin Nadiya Chyzhevska

USA (ACF) : Richard Beckwith
Jim Morrison

USA (ICHF) Chuck Freeman Kim Willis

A great list of names. Needless to say that I do not include myself in that illustrious list of great players. I do not regard myself as a “checker player” but one who merely attends tournaments to bolster the numbers.
