3-Move WTM 2015- Predictions

Many are expecting Mr. Borghetti to win by a blowout in this year's 3-Move WTM. I do believe Lubabalo Kondlo is a bit underrated in 3-Move and I will be surprised if it's a blowout. At the end of the day, Miki Borghetti is probably the better player. I pick Miki to win 6-2. I will be however, rooting for the underdog!

This will be an exciting match! (That is my prediction.) I respect both Champion Borghetti and Challenger Kondlo. I will be rooting for Kondlo!

The 3-Move World Title Match between Michele Borghetti (Italy) and challenger Lubabalo Kondlo (South Africa) will play August 31 to September 13 in Livorno, Italy. Referee is Alan Millhone.

I can’t imagine how many hours Lubabalo has been studying checkers since last December, when I met him in Beijing. He said that he had plenty of time.

Anyway, for me Miki is the great favourite. I won’t make any predictions about this match. I only hope Miki will beat Lubabalo.

Here’s some information about the match:

August 30: Open Ceremony in the town hall of Livorno with local authority and The Ambassador of South Africa.
From August 31 to September 12: the match starts at 9:00 am (Italian local time), 4 games each day.
Rest days: September 3,7 and 10.
Closing Ceremony 13 September at 10:30 (Italian local time).

I have been told that Lubabalo has been training very hard for this match. The thing about Lubabalo, is he always seems to exceed expectations. It is worth noting that he has either finished ahead or even with Mr. Moiseyev in his last 3 out of 4 tournaments in which they have been in together, the one exception being that tournament in China. I expect him to succeed expectations again. His only problem is he will now be facing a beast with more experience and knowledge on the other side of the board. Also thanks for the link Sergio.

Kondlo is a fighter, but like any good fighter, he will go down swinging, which could cause him to lose a few more games than expected

I have changed my prediction to 8-4 in favor of Borghetti. I am expecting there to be a lot of blood in this match.

On serious note, there are 5 major components you need to have in match:

1) Published play knowledge's;
2) Cross aboard abilities;
3) Champion / fighter spirit;
4) Physical form;
5) Luck.

Just think who is better and where and picture will be clear.

Plus I am sending $525 in US donations (and the bid also included board and much of the airfare for Lubabalo and Alan).

Great deal though, I like it. FID and match organizers did very good job.

I can't wait to see match in progress and games. Miki indeed should win but only time tells us - it will be close or one side match.
