Seventh and Final Volume of 21st Century Checkers

Post by chipschap »

The 7th and final volume of 21st Century Checkers, the 12-16s, will be available for download at my Checker Maven site, checkermaven.com, as of Saturday, January 16 (HST). As is the case with the entire series, Grandmaster Richard Pask offers this on a completely free basis. It's yours for the download.

As always I thank Mr. Pask for his generosity and for the privilege of formatting and distributing his work. This series will be the definitive 3-move ballot reference for many years to come.

Mr. Pask is in the process of preparing an "omnibus" titled "Complete Checkers" consisting of all seven parts in one volume. It will be some months until this is ready, but it too will be distributed through The Checker Maven as a free ebook. There will very likely also be a (rather large) print edition, which of course cannot be free, but will be offered at a reasonable price[1] with any potential profits going neither to Mr. Pask nor myself[2], but in some manner to benefit the checker-playing community.

[1] Printing costs for such a large volume will be non-trivial.

[2] A few people still think I've made money from "Basic Checkers 2010 Edition" when in fact I've never received, asked for, nor desired anything beyond partial reimbursement of my own costs.

I'd be interested to hear about any interest in a comprehensive print edition, which I suspect could run as long as 800 pages and sell for around $30-$35.

Dear Mr. Newell,

800 pages? $30 to $35?? That makes the price per page so low I would have to buy it... . Even though my house is already groaning under the collective weight of checkers and chess books, what could one more possibly hurt? Nothing.

Put me in the "yes" column.

Thanks!!

Regards to All,

I would be most interested in purchasing Complete Checkers by Richard Pask.
