The same site said different things earlier and had 1st round on Wednesday.

Also - If I am not mistaken WQT always (since 2004) had at least 8 rounds for 3-moves and GAYP events. What is special this year ? In 2008 Olympic & WQT event in Beijing where I played, we had 9 rounds because of big turnout - 42 players from 20 countries.

This (7 rounds) also breaks WCDF Statues. Here what is written in this basic WCDF document:

5.7.4 With sufficient entrants each qualification tournament should comprise a minimum of eight rounds of play with each “round” consisting of two games.

You can read a whole document here http://www.wcdf.net/statutes.htm

I don't think my first message went through so I'll send it again just in case. I was wondering if I could play in both tournaments Dr. Beckwith considering I'm getting near the level everyone else is and I am now finally taking the time to study even though I have a lot going on right now. I just don't want to win the youth tournament because honestly I can't remember a time where I drew a game with someone under 24. I will play in the youth if I have to but much preferably in the men's instead.

Thanks, Young Alex

I like this statement very much ! Fun is growing and I bet on Alex Holmes in Youth tournament. World Title is life title and is important. He has everything ahead and if I would be in his shoes, I would definitely try Youth event, no doubts. I am pretty sure that Turkmenistan and Italian youths can provide enough competition for him or anyone else.

Hello everyone,
I would like to inform you that Elia Cantatore and Davide Zhou took part in the Italian Open. They made a good impression on me. Cantatore defeated Nadiya Chyzhevska by the score of 4-0. Both of them are taking part in the World Youth Championship. They usually play long games, therefore I don't think that Alex Holmes will have enough time to play both tournaments.

I agree with Sergio. Youth event will occupy his time 100% and it will not be an easy walk around. It will be a great challenge for Alex but I believe he can handle it, and I bet on him !

If it is possible I rather try for the men's world championship this may be my last tournament in quite a while besides national because of my soccer career so I would like to try at it before I get out of it for a while

You have a choice before your gap: walk out as an official WCDF Youth World Champion or ... 2nd option :D

An exact names of all participants in all three events still remains in clouds and is big incognito :D ... at least for me.

From last circulated several emails, it seems like someone should pick up me & James Morrison from airport to hotel + also pick up Alex Holmes.

First day, Tuesday June 7 all players and guests (approximately 35 people?) will stay in different (close) hotel and will be move to Olympic Training Center on Wednesday morning, where we all will stay and play to the rest of week.

I want personally to thanks Mr. Carlo Bordini + IDF + Chiara for their terrific offer to pick me and James Morrison from Rome International Airport to hotel and save our time, money and nerves :D I am about to leave to Columbus International airport and travel to Rome to play in WQT.

Best should win! ... whoever it will be

I want also to thanks again everyone who helped me to make this dream (my travel to Italy) happen and contributed to Alex (Moiseyev!) Travel Fund. I can't guarantee you 100% that title will be back to USA, because everything is in hands of God (+ also there is quite a good number of outstanding players there), but I promise all of you to do all my best on my end. Whatever happen - so be it!

Respectfully,

Alex Moiseyev

Hi, Kent! I had contacted with Mr. Bordini and Dr. Beckwith couple months ago (as soon as I get tickets). it took several emails going back and forward and several weeks to set things up and get an agreement and arrangement. It maybe a bit late now (maybe not) to get something last minute for you.

BTW. What is your flight ? I think Dr. Beckwith already left yesterday USA with Mark Sokolovsky and they both now suppose to be in Rome. Maybe they still can read this forum ? If so - you have a chance :D
