Alex Holmes Travel Fund

Post by Michael Holmes »

Alex Holmes will be representing the US in the World Qualifying Checkers Tournament. I recently purchased the ticket and I am trying to raise funds for his stay there. The players at the recent NC tournament raised $115. This is going to help a lot and I thank you very much. If you have ideas or wish to donate please post or call. My phone number is 502-767-2488.
Thanks.

Alex Holmes is the current Go-As-You-Please World Youth Checkers Champion. To Alex's dad I ask if you are accepting checks, what address should it be sent to and to whom would we make the check out to? USA USA USA

Good morning sir,
I would be honored and humbled to accept checks to help pay for Alex's flight, stay, etc.

My address is 10106 Wingfield Lane,
Louisville KY 40291. You can make the check to me please.

Next I will try to get someone there in Rome to meet him at the airport.

Thanks for asking,
Michael

Joe,
That is a very generous gift. You have done a lot for checkers: Supporting Nationals, Supporting Youth, and the 11-man ballot. Alex and I thank you very much.
Michael.

I am on my last mission wirh the Army ( retire July 1st) but when I finally checked my mail I found a great surprise to help Alex Holmes: Checks from Albert Tucker, George Hay, Steve Holliday, and Joe McDaniel. Alex and I thank you all for the financial support and we thank everyone for the emotional support. Its great to hear people cheer on Alex Holmes.

We all bet on him to get Youth World Title into USA. But as I said - it won't be an easy walk around but real, tough and serious competition.

I recently received 2 more checks in the mail; One check from Dr. Beckwith and one check from the ACF! This is an incredible endorsement. Alex and I thank everyone who has given money and to everyone that has given moral support.

Alex broke his foot playing soccer today. We are still at the hospital. I will be returning all funds. Hopefully he can challenge the winner in a few months and make the trip then.

OMG. I wish him fast and easy recovery. Extremely pity. He'll be able to play soccer eventually ?

I don't know if WCDF BY-LOWS allow such match, but if it's happen would definitely very interesting event and grab world checkers fraternity attention.

Thanks moiseyev. Eventually he will recover (approximately six months). Right now checkers and soccer are the furtherest thing from our mind. He has to have surgery in a couple of days.

I've been busy dealing with Alex and havent seen your messages. I have already sent check s to all of you for the money you sent to us. That is a great gesture telling me to keep the funds though. It means a lot that people would support Alex Holmes quest for World Champion.
