In a match that was played for the best of 10 games,Elia won the first game and went ahead, but after a hard fought draw Tanya fought back and won game three. After game four also ended in a hard fought draw, Tanya took the lead by wining the fifth game.
Tanya went on to take the last two games to clinch the title by 12-4, winning five games, losing one, with two games drawn.
This is the first time a girl wins the junior title, and the first time the title went to the Ukraine. Congratulations
.
Also congratulations to Elia, who according to referee Alex Moiseyev deserved to win more then one game, but maybe next time he will prevail.

Congratulations to Lubabalo Kondlo of South Africa for winning the Gold Medal and right to challenge Michele Borghetti for the GAYP World Championship in 2018,
and that after winning the ACF Masters National!
Congratulations to Mr. Alex of the USA for winning the Silver Medal, and I am sure the Russian Bear with the
Heart of a Lion can't wait for the 3-Move Qualifier in 2018!
Congratulations to Melikaya Nonyukela of South Africa for winning the Bronze Medal with 20 points to finish in the top three!
Congratulations to Nadiya Chyzevska of Ukraine for winning the Gold Medal and regaining the Women's GAYP World Championship!
Congratulations to Tanya Zaitseva of Ukraine for winning the Silver Medal, and also the Youth GAYP World Championship!
Congratulations to Wynelle Neverson of Barbados for winning the Bronze Medal with 11 points!
Congratulations to Kim Willis for your election to the WCDF Board of Directors.
A special thank you to Ingo Zachos who's commentary and timely updates are most appreciated!

Re: world quli
Ingo pointed out to me that Game 6 above is a red win (not draw), which alters final score to 5-1 with 2 draws.
I also wish to thank our bilingual referee Alex Moiseyev for taking role of referee for a day and for helping to plan match.

Re: world quli
It was my pleasure and great honor to perform duties of referee of this historic match ! I want to remind you that after 4 games score was even (!) - 1-1-2. Perhaps most difficult and challenging part of my job was - keeping a "poker face"
I can confirm that almost in each game at some point both players had a win. It was a real swing. Tanya had more experience (she is Master by Russian checkers) and that was probably most decided factor.
There is a winner in this match, but there are no no losers! Elia shall work on checkers and will have a bright future and long, successful career - I am pretty sure about this. He may not have at the moment good knowledge's or cross aboard skills, but definitely he has a warriour spirit!

I am playing checkers, not chess.
