This is my game against Lesnes, Ch. France 2017 semi-rapides, I'm black. Due to some inaccuracy in the opening I need to play actively to avoid being over run in the centre. Initially one may think 12-18 cannot be played due to the 31-27 exchange and unavoidable loss of a man...however I proceeded to play this and set up the trap...my opponent took the bate and played 31-27 and fell into my plan!!!

The diagram does not show up on my computer even when signed in. I only get a "?" icon. Mr. Alex shows what must still be the very best way to post diagrams. From Board Index>>Analysis>>(top of) Positions>>Making Diagrams>>by Alex_Moiseyev » Sun Nov 13, 2005:

Then came my shot after 31-27 22x31 36x27 18-23 29x18 25-30 34x25 17-21 27x7 and 1x45 Black won.
for those not familiar with 100square notation, 1 starts off at black's double corner and we finish at 50 on white's double corner.
I'll be sending a couple more extracts from this competition later

Re: 2017 French Champoinship

I was white and have just attacked by 33-28 tempting my opponent to play a 2x2 and then I have the shot to the kings row as follows
11-17, 28x19, 18-22 27x18 12x14 ( a typical 2x2 manoever) then came 34-30 25x23 32-27 20x29
27-21 16x27 38-33 29x38 43x1 13-18 1-6 14-20 the losing move and 4-10 is the draw which I'd checked out at my initial 33-28 move.

Re: 2017 French Champoinship

I am black playing Paul Robin, a strong young player.
In all logic black is lost and I really should have resigned a long time ago...but Oldbury would say that your opponent doesn't necessarily see what you see!! and if white had played anything else but his last move 23-37 then it would have been all over for me. However he did not see the saving shot that was to follow 13-18 22x13 2-8 13x2 30-35 2x30 35x31 26x37 25x34 draw

Re: 2017 French Champoinship

Black has just played 20-24 which allowed me to make a series of forcing moves to pick up a man 20 moves later via
33-28 13-19 28-22! 9-14 (forced because if 8 or 913 I have a shot to the kings row 5 via 27-21 26x28 majority take rule and then 34-29) 22x13 23-29 34x23 19x28 32x23 8x28 43-39 6-11 38-33 12-17
33x22 17x28 42-38 28-32 37x28 26x37 38-32 11-17 32x41 I won with whites
