Re: ACF 3-moves Nat'l 2018 in LV
About prices ... I've done some research on nccheckers website for ACF National 2016 in Branson, and here is what I find out - we played 12 rounds, 24 games in total. in Master Division prices were divided as following:
1) S. Scarpetta (Italy), 40 points, $2,000 + trophy
2) A. Moiseyev (OH), 38 points, $1,500
3) R. King (Barbados), 36 points, $1,000
4) L. Kondlo (South Africa), 28 points, $800
5) J. Webster (NC), 26 points, $600
6) J. Francis (Barbados), 26 points, $600
7) R. Beckwith (OH), 26 points, $600
8 ) J. Moore (PA), 24 points, $283.34
9) C. Nash (MS), 24 points, $283.34
10) L. Keen (TN), 24 points, $283.34
11) J. Morrison (KY), 24 points, $283.34
12) T. Laverty (NC), 24 points, $283.34
13) A. Mercado (IL), 24 points, $283.34
14) A. Holmes (IN), 24 points, $283.34
15) L. Wells (Canada), 24 points, $283.34
16) C. Xiong (MN), 24 points, $283.34
17) P. Bryan (OH), 22 points, $170
18). M. Sokolovsky (OH), 22 points, $170
19) B. Hinkle (MO), 22 points, $170
20) J. Schwartz (FL), 20 points, $145
21) P. Shwarzberg (NY), 20 points, $145
22) D. Maughan (Barbados), 16 points, $130
23) G. Wilson (AL), 12 points, $110
Total - $10,690.06
Hope this will give you some idea. If players (two or more) tie, money will be divided evenly. You can bring money with you or win in casino before registration, and then pay in front your ACF membership fee and tournament entry fee.
About time control - we are using clocks in Master Division, but I truly don't remember exactly what time control we had in 2016,
In Italy for International Match we are going to play 45 mins to each player to the rest of game + 20 second increment for each move. I like this time control - this would allow to finish 1 round no more than 2.5 hours and also avoid any potential conflicts with unfinished games. Maybe we can approach it in Las Vegas ?

Hi Alex
Thanks for all this information, I appreciate it.
The ty will certainly be a huge success and let's hope it will drag more foreigners over to play...well done to the organizers!!
I'm just curious though on the prize split!! Logically (as in winter Olympics in progress for example) the awards go to first 3 players right? (awarding the time, energy and family sacrifices made) We are in a competition correct and not a charity ?
Looking forward to seeing you all soon
william

Re: ACF 3-moves Nat'l 2018 in LV
Martin Gardner, the mathematical games writer for Scientific American, attended the University of Chicago in the 1930's at the same time as Grandmaster Sammy Reshevsky. Gardner and other members of the chess club were disappointed that Reshevsky was a no show. But then they had a Tournament where the first prize was a guaranteed $50. As Gardner put it, "Sure enough, Reshevsky showed up to register for the tournament! $50 was a lot of money in those days and, as we expected, the temptation was too much for him.”

4 days, 3 rounds every day, each round consists of 2 games, each game takes approximately 2 hours. One round - 4 hours, 3 rounds - 12 hours a day + lunch/dinner time.
So 12-14 hours a day, 4 days in the row.
