If I understand it correctly - according website everyone who register on this site and pay $50 USD (fifty US dollars), can play in WCDF 3 moves QT … true ? Can my wife register in this event ?

I also didn't see any event schedule - Opening ceremony, rounds start/end time, Closing ceremony, prize, referees etc

This is the most recent update I received on World Qualifier: There is positive news here, and prize fund looks to be $14,000 US$. However, their internet site at www.checkersanddraughtsbarbados.com remains down. -- Richard

***

Good evening Richard,

Please be advised that all systems are go re the World Qualifier in October.

The site will be back up and running very soon. Players will be able to book and register.

Since our meeting with the Minister we have received communication that funds will be forthcoming to assist which means that our proposed bid for US$10,000 is covered. Playing venue and hotel for accommodation remains Divi Southwinds Hotel.

We need to communicate now asap to finalize coming officials, prize monies etc. Please feel free to submit a draft for prize monies so we can start getting things finalized.

I wish to express my sincere thanks to the WCDF for its confidence in our abilities to host a successful World Qualifier again in Barbados. Please assure the international community that they can go ahead and make their respective travels plans. As soon as the site is back up I will let you know and they should start to register there asap.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Have a great evening!

Sincerely,
Hazeain Harding-King

In the past 14 years since first WCDF 3-moves Qualify Tournament on Barbados, all (all!) WQT tournaments, either 3-moves or GAYP ran in the same format: Monday-Thursday, 4 days, 8 rounds. I found out that this year it will be October 1-5, 5 days. What kind of activity we have on October 5 - just regular game or Closing Ceremony ?

Still trying to understand - for 3-moves 2018 WCDF Qualify Tournament when (date and time) we have Opening Ceremony, 1st round, 8th round and closing Ceremony ? Also it is interesting - when we have WCDF annual meeting ? Without knowing this exactly, I can't make reservation and buy tickets.

I have written Hazeain / Ron twice in the past week to get clarity here on a number of issues (schedule for the week, playing regulations, more detail on lodging & food costs, etc.). They do want the players to promptly register at the site at https://www.checkersanddraughtsbarbados.com/. However, I explained more details are needed for players to assess travel days and budget in order to register. I hope their site will reflect some more updates and improvements soon. As for October 5th, this may simply be nothing more than the traditional reserved "playoff" day that goes unused. But it is possible the last round will take place in the morning, if they decide to stretch out the rounds 1-2-2-2-1 over 5 days. Also, WCDF General Assembly is usually nearer the middle of the tournament (before everyone departs).
