3 moves Independent Challenge WCM: A. Moiseyev vs S. Scarpetta

Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

Hi,

below are copy of my two posts on Facebook:

=========================================================================================================================

Today me and reigning English Draughts 3-moves style World Champion Sergio Scarpetta, Italy got an agreement to play World Title match via Independent Challenge channel . Match will be hosted in International Checkers Hall of Fame, Petal, Mississippi.

Match dates: March 11 (Wednesday) - March 19 (Thursday), rest day after 16 games - March 15, Sunday. Referee - Charles Walker..
You can send your donation checks directly to WCDF President and ACF Treasury Richard Beckwith or make donations on ACF site. Charles Walker said that anyone who donates $250 or more are welcome to stay for free! I will post here later image of match contract.

Financial aspect of match is simple: Sergio will receive $7,000 and I will play for title. All Sergio transportation expanses will be covered fully. ICHF will cover all accommodation and food expanses for both players.

I am working now on broadcasting coverage and looking for any volunteers who might be interesting to step forward and do online life time coverage.
Stay on for more news.

Yours,
AM

=============================================================================================================================
Sergio will have unique chance to defend his title against ALL living English Draughts 3-moves World Champions: Michelle Borghetti (Italy) - 2017, Ronald King (Barbados) - 2019 + upcoming match. Kind of historical moment.

We know well from history of checkers title matches - there were a good number of very strong challengers who never got a good chance to play match. It is probably something similar to “right place at right time”. And this is main reason why I decided to move ahead with Independent Challenge - now or never!

Checkers fraternity truly deserve to have this match. Independent Challenge channel is 100% legitimate procedure well covered in WCDF BY-LAWS and I believe it’s done for one simple reason - allow strong players to have their chance!

Indeed Sergio is one of the best players today in the world and it won’t be easy to dethrone him, but I can only repeat my famous quote:

“There is only one way to prove pudding - eat it!”

Regards,

Last news ...

American Master Mark Sokolovsky kindly agreed to perform duties of Referee Assistant along with broadcasting and online coverage. Games will be translated in life time on Facebook. I understood that not every ACF member who has Internet and visit this site also join with Facebook. But I really hope that someone will be posting here match results in progress.

WCDF President Richard Beckwith is preparing now match contract for myself, Sergio and Charles Walker review and signature.

More later ...

BTW. Mark Referee Assistant candidacy pending approval by all parties.

Couple days ago I received email from Mr. Charles Walker who will be Main referee of match:

" … you will be able to play on the 4 decades old Historical table where Marion Tinsley, Asa Long, Don Lafferty and other Championship games have been played."

Truly fantastic news. It will be my great honor and pleasure to play on this historical Table!

Just an update on this 3 Move Independent Challenge WCM: A. Moiseyev vs S. Scapetta. I talked to Charles Walker and he said the Match was tentatively rescheduled for June 8-16. I modified the original schedule to fit these dates but will update if changes are made.

2020 3-Move WTM (Moiseyev vs Scarpetta) - Petal, MS

Originally Scheduled... March 11-19 (free day March 15). Match (32 games) will be hosted at the International Checkers Hall of Fame in Petal, Mississippi; However, the Coronavirus - "Wuhan, China virus," now a global pandemic stopped Sergio from leaving Italy. Our tentative dates, are rescheduled June 8-16 using the same tournament format.

Independent 3-Move World Title Match: Alex Moiseyev (USA, challenger) and current 3-move World Champion, Sergio Scarpetta (Italy) have agreed to play a World Title Match via an Independent Challenge on June 8-16 (free day Friday, June 12). Match (32 games) will be hosted at the International Checkers Hall of Fame in Petal, Mississippi. Referee - Charles Walker.

Additional donations are needed, and checks may be sent directly to WCDF President / ACF Treasurer Richard Beckwith, 34490 Ridge Road #115, Willoughby, or make donations via Paypal on ACF Store site at www.usacheckers.com/store/ under Donations & World Championship. Charles Walker said that anyone who donates $250 or more are welcome to stay for free while attending the match!

Hello, everyone !

Today I exchanged information with Sergio and we've got final agreement with dates.
1) We plan to play in ICHF on June 8 (Monday) thru June 16 (Tuesday).
2) Break day - June 12, Friday.
3) Sergio plan to arrive probably on Friday, June 5 but needs to check tickets.
4). Me and Sergio finally adjusted match prize and made it $7,000 for Sergio (instead $8,000) *
5) Richard, I think you can send $4,000 which we collected to Charles.
6) Joe, you also can send $3,000 to Charles.
7) Richard, you have to check with ACF and WCDF to identify - what amount they can provide to cover Sergio ticket … and maybe his companion (Sergio said that more likely he will not have companion)
8) I will try to find someone who can organize broadcasting.
* Financial aspect of match is simple: Sergio will receive $7,000 and I will play for title. All Sergio transportation expanses will be fully covered. ICHF will cover all accommodation and food expanses for both players. I am working now on broadcasting coverage and looking for any volunteers who might be interesting to step forward and do online life time coverage. Stay on for more news..

Any games finished yet? Ah, I see (above) that the match has been rescheduled (tentatively, it would seem). I will add that info to the ACF Bulletin. Good luck to both players.

It looks like this copy of announcement is a bit out of date, probably back yo earlier November.

Just for clarification:

1). Yes, match was postponed until June 8-16. Anything else remain very much unchanged.

2). In November Mark Sokolovsky was picked as Broadcaster and Online coverage Assistant and also will perform duties of Referee Assistant helping Charles Walker.
