Charlie's Time

Post by Richard Pask »

Dear all,

I have just ordered, and am very much looking forward to reading, Charles Walker's autobiography 'Charlie's Time'. It should prove enthralling. (Available on Amazon)

My own story - which I hope Charles won't mind me repeating. In 1989, at the 5th International Match, Charles learnt that I was soon to be married. (I still am - and to the same woman!) He also knew that my wife-to-be was a teacher. He did not know that my mother (also a teacher) was shortly due to visit the site of the match. Thus, when a teacher turned up, mentioning Richard Pask, he assumed that this was the lady in question. For the remainder of the day he viewed me suspiciously. That is, until he was informed of his erroneous conclusion. 'I just assumed you were a dark horse and into older women!,' he told me with a twinkle in his eye.
