Womans Qualifier
I recieved a e-mail from alan,it was from Hugh Devlin saying that since no women were going to be in scotland to play it was cancelled .and comes after is totally not right.
Further to my previous Email of 4th July 2006 it is now agreeed that
the WCDF is cancelling the Women's Qualifier and I now declare
Amangul
Durdyeva as the next official challenger to Patricia Breen's 3 move
title. Regards Hugh.
This is not right.
I won the 3-move National Title i worked hard for that title and i think i should be the one going not Amungul how can Hugh Devlin say that she has won and declare this?
I will have to say i have had enough of being screwed around.

Re: Womans Qualifier
Eh ????
If you want to play for the title why don't you just show up for the qualifier ?

Re: Womans Qualifier
It is very disappointing that the Woman QT in Stonehaven was cancelled, and I hope that next time the Qualification for the title match will be played over the board, and not gained by retreatments of the other competitors.
What about the Youth event in Stonehaven?
So far no player has been nominated, so will it be cancelled, too ?
A suggestion to the WCDF:
Is it possible to hold the three events in one swiss-system tournament, so a low attendence in one ot two QT's might be compensated and the players all get to play the same number of rounds for their trip?
The best placed Junior could be declared World Champion and the best Woman the official Challenger.

If Hugh Devlin HAD to choose a challenger for Breen, then I think Amangul is a fine choice.

Re: Womans Qualifier
how do you know she is a fine choice?
you met her? whats she like?
does she play well?
point is none of that would even matter
we need a fair way to chose......if amugel shows up in scotland and
no ladies show up but her...then maybe she does win the right to challenge

Re: Womans Qualifier
if i understand this correctly, she is the only woman planning to attend - therefore Mr. Devlin made her the challenger by default
yes the event has not been held yet, but they know which players are and are not coming so why waste her time and make her attend an event when they know no other women will be there
if there are other women planning to attend, then there might be a dispute, otherwise, i don't see the point in complaining

I think she plays well - all of her Prague games are online so it's not like I haven't seen her play

Re: Womans Qualifier
Amangul is a fine player -- I have not played her in an official tournament game, but was lucky to draw the one practice game we had face to face! As for Hugh's decision.... I don't know the timelime of events leading up to this decision, but Clayton's (and others') responses sound logical.

Hugh is perfectly right in what hes saying.Amangel does have the right to challenge Patricia,by showing up to the qualifier in Scotland she has every right, and yes shes a very worthy opponent to challenge Patricia. If you are not going Kim, then you lose your right,as i have done, because we play by different rules now, under the auspices of the WCDF,and we must abide by those rules

Not only money ! As far as I know - Amangul had exams to college at the end of July, but was ready to give up one year on college and planned to go to Scotland.
When Mr. Devlin made his decision, it was only one attendant on the list - Amangul Durdyeva. Neither zero nor one player can generate a competitive event
