Post by Mr. Checkers »

"Checker Trivia question of the Day"? What is the name given to the special checker sets made specifically for wee-people? (Cont.)

Re: "Checker Sets Custom Made to Order"

I know this is not the answer you are looking for but on eBay I came across this auction for custom, any stain or color you want (red and white, if you like), made to order checkers, the only thing is they are all the same size (1 & 1/4 inch diameter), so I guess we will have to search elsewhere for the especially made for "wee-people" size checkers. :?: Hmmm  "Wee-people" sounds like we might find them in Scotland or may be those little Irish leprechauns have traded their little pots of gold for little pots of checkers (or draughts as they would say).

The answer to this fine question will be forthcoming as soon as "Inky" and Mr. Checkers arrive back home from the islands in the South Pacific. (Cont.)

Long long ago (around 1726) there was a very small imaginary island nestled somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean. They called this beautiful little island "Lilliput" and its inhabitants (known as Lilliputians) were an extremely small people, standing only six inches tall. The Lilliputians were constantly at war with their neighbors (who lived on another island nearby). Neither could decide on which end of a boiled egg to eat first--the round end or the pointed end. Recently our museum was blessed with a wonderful gift, which we will always treasure because it was the first "Lilliputian Ivory Draughts Set" that we have ever seen--and we will probably never see another. And we wanted to share this treasure with all of our friends here on the ACF Forum without anymore delay. (Cont.)
