Just wanted let you know that I'll try to do my all my best to get there I think - this is very good initiative and it has my full support. Number of state GAYP events in ACF is extremely limited and this maybe a good model and sample for other states.
Many thanks to Gene Lindsay who runs this event ! Hopefully, it may become another permanent mark on our checkers map

Vonda provided coffee & delicious homemade cakes & pies throughout the ty and held open house at Otis & Vonda Jones Residence in Talbott. The Group Dined at Captain Galleys in Dandridge. Lakeway Inn & Conference Center is an excellent motel at reasonable rates, outstanding free breakfast, playing facility, & pool. A wonderful Sunday morning service was available to players by Wade Holder and Ken Christian. This was a fun and pleasant tournament - Southern hospitality at its best; I expect it to grow as word gets around.
I understand - some explanation is needed on my part. Both our family cars (!) went to mechanic place this weekend - doesn't happened very often Congratulations to Dr. Webster by winning this event, directors and all players.
Yea, next year I promise I'll be lighter and take 1st place in the tootie tot... contest and maybe even learn how to play checkers. Too much fun for a fat man!
Thank you, the tournament was both edifying and fun. It's a great environment in which to play checkers, and I'd like to thank all the players for their kindness. As for being Michael Daily's student, I'm not quite sure who Michael Daily is, but I'm pretty sure I'm not his student haha.
Tommy C, no the enrty fee was $20 for everyone but there was only 1/2 as many players in the B Divsion and I paid 1/2 the entry fee for the 2 new players(Jay & Matthew) and for Trey Stanley(12yrs old). Also there were 15 players which means $300 in enrty fees. I paid out $485 in prize money of which I also paid the difference, because I wanted everyone to have a prize. I also paid for the winner of the A Division's hotel bill. There were only 5 players in the B Divsion of which I only collected $70, $50 of which I gave to the winner. So what's the B----ing about. Since I was was running the ty and furnished approx. 1/2 the prizes, I think I had the right to decide the prizes(which I thought was equitable). I might add that everyone who attended seemed pleased with the way I did it.
You certainly did a great job putting the Ty together and contributing a large amount of the fund which you deserve great credit Gene,I wasnt referring specifically to your particular Ty tho.
Here in Ireland in our local Tys like County Donegal,Derry or Tyrone Opens all winners get the same whether in monies or Cut Glass Trophys to the same value for each section ,Master Senior or Intermediate it dont matter thats what i call fair and no distinction is made between anyone grade. as bugs says these are the Masters of the future.
Here in the North West Draughts Federation we have only been doing this the past 4-5 yrs or so and expenses are still the samebe you a Master or Junior player
I wasnt trying to make mischief Gene . In all seriousness its just the equality i want to see in every Ty. and i would love to see this introduced in every Ty,thats fair?

Tommy C even at that, we still have a difference of opinion. I do not think that the winner of each Division shoud be paid the same. If you can win the same thing in each division, what is the incintive to get better and to move up to the next division? To me, not only does it not give you incintive to move up, but it encourages people to keep their rating down so the can play in the lower divisions. I think we should be encouraging players to get better and to move up as quickly as possible. Going back to your other statement it seemed to me that you were infering that I took monies from the entry fees from the lower divisions and used it in the higher division, which I would not do.
In our way of doing things the winner of each section move up automatically that sorts all that out....then one person cant win over n over each year so giving others the chance nxt year, its so simple!!
