Ingo, starting tomorrow I am going to check my mail box every day - waiting when GM diploma ( or certificate) arrive.

Thanks in advance ! :D I am sure - it will be one of the most memorable checkers documents in my library. And perhaps same level excitement for all other title holders.

WCDF should not miss this oppotunity !

If if you need my address - let me know. Or you can simply type on envelope: "USA, Alex Moiseyev" and it will also find my house.

Respectfully,

Alex

Sorry, Tommy, but... no :-(

Mail play is not included in our rating and we do not award titles for mail play yet.

BTW: Which organisation is running the mail ty's?
Maybe you could do what the chess correspodence players did:
to found a special federation that is a regular member of the World's federation (WCDF) and awards titles that the World fedaration recognizes.

Thats just plain discrimination Ingo.........and if i wanted to be a chess player id join a chess club ,and there was me thinking i was a member of a draughts Federation and we were all the one BIG happy family.

Too bad. Im disapointed almost ready to cry.

Make your own Mail play ratings list. Make sure to have Kingsrow and Cake included in their names too :)

Ingo / Igor,

Indeed today I don't have most cross tables from old events, but matches are still available :)

So, you can add to your list of events 2000 3 moves 7th International match from 2001

Hi Alex,

it might be we have already rated this event, as before 2005 George Miller calculated the list, and we might have just omitted it on the list that we made later, but anyway sent it in to my email address, so we can check it.

We r thankful for every crosstable we can get .
We will not change this report anymore (it is now "official", though may still have some errors), but the results may have an impact on our next rating report, if we don't have it.

Also, if you or anyone else detects an error in spelling, wrong gender, wrong nationality, deceased players on the list or any missing event, he or she might tell it to me!

I am sorry that you will have to wait for the diplomas, as we have not yet turned to this detail, just be patient.
In fact we have not quite finished our work on title regulations yet, and we all do it in our spare time.

Can expand on that quote.

I suppose a "mail rating list" could be compiled if someone is willing to gather and process world mail play events, I-D tournaments, etc. However, I don't see how you can intermingle a mail rating list with the main "face-to-face" list because of the impact of book and computer assistance. In some of the past U.S. I-D mail events, some weak-major level players and other unknowns have suddenly turned into top masters when the game shifts to mail play.

Alex has previously suggested to me extending titles to the mail players, which would includes GMs who have held the world title such as Richard Fortman, Jerry Childers, and Mac Banks (and probably others I am missing).

In my opinion I don't think the WCDF should give GM titles to mail players using mail play results. Who would disagree?

Doesn't mail play have their own federation? Is Mac Banks the Pres. for this federation? I recall him accepting a world match challenge - I know he can do this, but I would expect this to go through some type of federation first? Or is it just all organized through email now? It seemed like Banks just accepted the challenge against Canning and they just went to some mail-play website and played.[/i]

In my opinion - without mail play and mail players checkers would be different today. As Dr. Beckwith mentioned - my proposition 2 years ago was affective ACF titles which we wanted to introduce and I wanted to award the past mail play World Champions by ACF GM titles.

I planned to do this in order to recognise their exceptional role and efforts developing checkers and bringing checkers to the new level and higher standards of play. Without mail players (mostly) - we would not have new opening on ballots today.

I thought and still thinking that this would be a nice and important gesture - awarding players like R. Fortman, J. Childer, G. Miller, M. Banks and few other by titles.

This is restrictly promotional action. I didn't propose to treat mail rating etc. Whats wrong by awarding Mr. For tman GM title ?????

WCDF already awarded several USA and UK players by GM titles based on their past performance (not current) and I highly appreciate this.

Just one more step ahead. Leave conservatism behind ! :D

 If I may add to this to the mix I would also suggest recognizing renown "checker problemists", "collectors", "authors of checker books", "publishers of checker magazines" etc., etc. for without them our game would not be where it is today either. As it stands now the only people that have ever been given any credit for doing anything in checkers are the players, which is definately a biased way of thinking about what has made our game the game it is today--and it is certainly not true in any respect.
