Hello Checker/Draughts Players:
I spoke with Gerry Lopez tonight and below is an announcement he wanted me to place on our forum.
The 8th. International Match book will be going to the printer very soon. It will probably rate among the best books ever. It is annotated by some of the best checker players and analyists in the world including world champion, Alex Moiseyev. It has the 200 games of the centennial match with plenty of annotations with plenty of startling corrections , cooks, tactics, exciting play, etc.
Here's a book that should be in every players library. It has history, photos, bios, records and a super extensive section of corrections of previous International Matches plus many excellent diagrams with very useful positions.
If you want to improve your game, don't fail to get this book. It will be hardbound and will be a bargain at $40.00 for the U.S. and $45.00 abroad.
Please send your checks to ACF Pres. Alan Millhone, P.O. Box # 1, Belpre,Ohio 45714-0001 or to Gerry Lopez, 41858 Corte Selva, Temecula, Calif. 92591

Orders for the book
I bought three books so this is good news for me. I bought a numbered copy for the next generation of Holmes' to have for a souvenir, one for me to study, and another for my son to study.

Re: 8TH INTERNATIONAL BOOK COMING SOON
Patrick,
The Don Goodwin estate or "Becky's Books on
the Square" may have some of these books for sale -- I don't have any extras. I bought a 1st IM book (1905) off Dave Kotin in Prague, but this book is somewhat scarce. The 2nd IM book is very nice and is often referenced. The 4th IM book (1983) is large and contains pictures of the opponents and many annotations. The 5th and 7th IM were smaller match books, but still contain a lot of games, obviously. I have not seen books for the other matches. I suspect the 8th IM book will be among the best of this lot, in terms of annotations and diagrams.
