Re: Elbert Lowder's Condition
lowder fans....cheers for him get well soon
Everyone is a fan of Elbert Lowder
Everyone probably knows that Elbert is a piano tuner. A couple of years ago, I made up this Elbert Lowder joke/motto:
When I'm not playing checkers, I'll tune your piano.
When I am playing checkers, I'll clean your clock.
When I'm not playing checkers, I'll tune your piano.
When I am playing checkers, I'll clean your clock.

Re: Elbert Lowder's Condition
I was upset to read that Elbert Lowder had suffered a heart attack. I met this great player several times and was always astonished by his amazing ability. He will be very much in my thoughts and prayers.
Re: Elbert Lowder's Condition
I have been working on a book of Elbert Lowder's greatest games for over a year now. It will take a while longer, maybe another year, as I have to study about 2000 games in some detail just to decide which ones are brilliant and which ones were played by an impostor (just kidding there). I've got 59 games chosen and briefly annotated, so far. I will annotate them in greater detail later. I thought you folks might enjoy seeing one of them:
10-14 24-19 11-16 22-17 7-10 (14-18 draw PP) 17-13 3-7 25-22 14-17 21-14 9-25 29-22 10-14 (8-11 draw PP) 28-24 16-20 32-28 8-11 19-16 12-19 24-8 4-11 23-19 7-10 19-16 14-17 16-7 2-11 27-23 (22-18 10-15 18-14 15-18 26-23 11-16 13-6 probably draws) 10-15? (5-9 23-19 11-15 19-16 seems to draw) 23-18!!
