2007 Youth World Qualifier
Hello everyone,
I was just stopping by and wondering if anyone had an idea about when or where this will be held as well as how much will be invested into this (hey, I'm a college student things like this get a bit pricy:P) I assume there is some sort of bid taking place right now.
Thanks for reading,
Corey Modich
And I'll put some random wise thing at the end of my posts...
Time will run out if you think too much.

2007 Youth Qualifier
Corey,The Youth will be playing along side the mens and womens Qualifier. The only difference will be the Top Youth will be playing for the Youth Title instead of a qualifier since that slot is open.
The date and place is Las Vegas,Sept 17th threw the 21st 2007.
Hope you can attend

Re: 2007 Youth World Qualifier
Unless I take a year off from school I will be unable to attend, I am sorry. This will also be difficult for Ryan since he's in college too.
Is there any way we can appeal for an earlier tournament?

Dear Corey,
Last I heard, Ryan was planning (and eager) to attend.
However, I realize school is important.
The date selection of the youth tournament was not an easy choice. Summer is not so good for the adult tournament, and it is optimal to have everyone in one place at the same time. In 2005, Prague hosted a successful youth tournament as late as October.

Dr. Beckwith,
Prague did host a successful tournament, however, if my memory serves me right no American youth checker players were there.
It may be easier to hold a tournament at a certain time for the adults. However, you still inconvenience the youth.
I know it is not that cheap to set up separate events for the adults and the youth, but well... players like myself can't attend because of the time of the tournament.
The youth of today will be the heads of the ACF tomorrow. If we really want to encourage youth checkers here in the States we need to be doing every little bit possible to ensure that it lives on. If some kid wants to go for the youth title in the future and sees through preceding dates that it may be inconvenient to even try they might not even go to the Nationals. This hypothetical situation may be a long shot, however, it does not escape the realm of possibility.
A few wise checker players have told me something along the lines of "School always comes before checkers."
Besides, if we have the events separate we could potentially gain more publicity for them. Having the youth tournament separate could draw some newsworthy attention from the media on its own, right?

Re: 2007 Youth World Qualifier
I think this difficulty needs more thought and planning as its obvious no consulation has taken place with the younger age group.
School holiday time would be best and putting all three events together looks like it may not be a success overall.
Last year in Prague i took Shane McCosker and as Corey says no USA Youth attended for obvious reasons. In fact apart from Shane and Bashim Durdeyev (who was with the other family members)no other nationality except local Czech youth who took part.
Again i reinterate more planning consultation and thought is needed if we are serious about this venture in future.Having said that maybe its not too late for a plan "B".

To gain something, you must first be willing to sacrifice something.
That can be said for all fronts.

Tommy, I spoke with Kim yesterday, and she is going to talk with Alan / Richard / Gerry. Plan "B" is on the table
Summer certainly could be the only time for the youth ty - no questions about this.
I proposed a separate woman and youth ty's hostings long time ago (5 years ?), but people were not ready at that time for revolutionary ideas
.
I also don't understand - what was successful with youth ty in Prague ??? Because it's just started and finished ?
Or 6 attendants is maximum we can dream ?
Organisors did their best, but I can't say the same about Federation (WCDF). It's promotional efforts were miserable.
