85 f or 115...is there a difference? when i was in vegas in the summer time ...it felt like my normal spring time experience only dry but i think josh put it right how much outdoor activity does one do in vegas? they have ac ......
I'm personally not worried about the heat, but I could see where an older person might have concerns about stepping out of a building to sudden 45-degree rise in temperature. Yes, there will be AC inside, but visitors would like to be able to go out to lunch and sight-see.
I might clarify that WCDF WQT bids were closed 2 months ago. No other bids were received for US cities or dates other than this Las Vegas bid (with WCDF input), which was announced a month ago. As I mentioned, changing months will be a tougher sell now that much time has passed (this is not to say we aren't discussing this further, because we are). We have already received feedback from a number of international players who intend to come based on the announced September dates. What happens if we move dates, and all of a sudden some of these other people can no longer come -- perhaps due to a special family commitment, or due to proximity to the British Open, etc. ?
Wel, I guess that's another pending issue, but as I stated, separating the youth tournament means some people (including chaperones) may have to make two costly trips to Vegas if they need or wish to be present for the other events. Also, it would make for better camaraderie to have everyone together. A weekend event (Sept. 15-16) means U.S. youth would only have to miss a minimum of 1-2 days of school, although I realize this may still be too much for some, and maybe this plan won't pan out either. We're evaluating all these options (behind the scenes), as there is no point in making disruptive changes if the benefit isn't there.
sacrifices will just have to be made by some of the players if i were a youth i would want it all together so that i could possibly watch the masters play....alas i am an old man
your weekend before sounds like a good compromise
maybe there is a lesson to be learned in all this?
What do you like about checkers?: I love strategy games and checkers fits the bill for a great strategy game, that requires logic and problem solving skills.
just keep in mind that if the youth who can not come because it is during the week still will not be able to make it if it is on the weekend, then there would be no reason to change the dates
