This is a tough job to do, We have many players (men) who have played in Dublin, and our National Tournament, plus Prague.

We will then go thru the list who are interested and pick from the names.
So please as soon as possible let us know.

the ICHF team we have

Mr .Joe Schwartz

I do not have anyone else yet that I know of. But they may send 2 women and 2 Youth.

Kim, this is an individual event. There is no "so-called" US Team ... only if we want knock out foreign players from the first place with illegal agreements - then we need a "team". :D

Although - there is no reason to look for volunteers. Check the results of US NT GAYP 2005 and pick top 3 players. To the best of my memory there were: Dr. Beckwith, myself and Clayton Nash. Next in line were R. Hallett and J. Morrison.

Simple.

Actually, we hope to have the list of US "representatives" in place soon (based on 2005 GAYP National and WQT results), but I am awaiting responses from a couple people, and know of two others who have already expressed interest. Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to know who else is interested (as a backup) in case people withdraw their names later. Jim Morrison is automatically in via WCDF nomination as defending GAYP WQT champion. We also still need 5 women entries.

It is two per federation, but three if you host. I was including ICHF when I said "five."

I'm not sure why Barbados had nine entries -- sounds like some "hanky panky" may have been going on. The only extra I could see is adding a player at the last minute to avoid a bye (permitted in WCDF statutes). There have also been past examples of someone playing for another country, but this practice really isn't permitted when reading the WCDF statutes carefully. It's also possible there may have been some WCDF nominations in 2004 of Barbados players, but I doubt there were 3 or 4 of these.

What are the requirements for joining WCDF and being considered a federation? I am curious as the ICHF has no membership and holds no tys. Can I join, as say, the US Checker Associaton and send 2 members?

Interesting question Gene. The by-laws state that federations wishing to join (that are willing to abide by WCDF by-laws) may apply for membership and pay $100 (US) annual dues. I pulled out a couple lines here:

2.1 Members of the WCDF are Checkers organisations, which have authority over Checkers activities in their own area [geographical or funtional].

2.3 The admission of an organisation as a member is effected through an application. This application must be submitted to the Executive Board and will be decided upon by the Executive Board within two months of its receipt. The application for admission must include sufficient data to make it evident that the statutory purpose and the previous activities of the applicant are in conformity with the WCDF Bylaws.

Also, the ICHF has hosted a number of state events and World title matches over the years.

Richard, this is big mistake/ ICHF - International body and has nothing to do with USA. In addition - this is private organisation

As a point of clarification, I agree ICHF is a separate organization that may conduct nominations as they see fit (including non-US players).
However, Charles Walker has personally contacted me for suggestions of people that they may nominate for any of their unfilled nominations. I do not believe ICHF has named youth and women nominations yet.

For my part Charlie Walker always got a certain amount of leeway and for good reason too, whether you like him or no thats irrelevent. The man has been a life long supporter and his checker hall of fame has added to the myth, there is no doubt abt that.

I suppose what your all talking abt is the legal position and that is a matter of opinion i guess.I was never one to kick a man when hes down you might blame my ol man for that nevertheless i would have thought the more local (USA) players admitted the better, but maybe somehow the dont fit with you.mmmm??Is that it.

But theres manys a slip tween the cup and the lip and its a long way to September. I sincerely hope Gene Lindsay is there as he must be the most underrated of all the US players ,i just dont understand it??Matter of fact id love to see the big man come to Ireland for the BIG ONE in Oct. Is that possible??...Tommyc.

Rich, I always thought that participation in the World Qualify event is a great honor and should always come through endorsement based on the performance, not personal relations.

ICHF is an International body, and if C. Walker was looking for endorsement, he should probably contact with WCDF President Hugh Devlin or other National Associations, not only ACF.

I would change my view on this matter, if ICHF start running tournaments on regular base, and nominees for the world QT will be endorse base on the final outcome of these events

Tommy, my opinion on this matter has nothing to do with legal things and I had this opinion long before all these unfortunate things happened with Mr. Walker.

I am also against and highly oppose an idea to have two Barbados Federations as members of WCDF. This simply means - WCDF support confrontation.

Respectfully,

Alex, I don't know a great deal about all of this, but I really don't understand your reasoning for wanting to take the ICHF nominations away. I've not meet Charles Walker, but I understand that he has done much to promote checkers. To take away the ICHF nominations now after it has been agreed tool, would be a slap in the face. His nominations have done well in the qualifiers. How do you think that it takes away from the prestige if his nominations finish well?

Jon, It's not a deal or recognition of Mr. Walker. I am talking about prinicipals to build World Federation. I was against this idea in 2003 and I am against it today. I wasn't happy when two Federations were created on Barbados and I am not happy today.

With all recognition of C. Walker and his contribution to checkers, it has nothing to do with WCDF and making ICHF = any other National federation.

I think making ICH a member of WCDF - slip into face of common sense and other world to the rest and ignoring opinions of many.

I don't want to take nomination away - I want to take ICHF membership in WCDF away. This would be more logical. In FMJD we have a rule: they recognise membership only one National body.

There are two Russian 64 federation now and FMJD recognise only one.

Think about ... to be endorse from ACF or EDA - you must be first or second in National, which almost impossible for any ordinary person. To be endorse from ICHF - you need Mr. Walker endorsement. Do you think it make sense ?

Anyway ... it just a social talk ... I don't propose anything, only share my personal thoughts with other visitors of forum.
