Mois v King ...OFF

Post by tommyc »

An email i got today from Hugh Devlin WCDF saying the Alex-Ron match was off due to no sponsor>??Is this true.

I was under the impression that it was all set for Barbados in the summer.
What are your thoughts on this ?.

Tommy, the main thing is - I am not very active this year, dislike 2005, and as result ... nothing happened !!!

When I was Challenger in 2001-2002 I did all my best to find sponsors and bid. I think this is responsibility of Challenger and World Federation.

I am open for any interesting news and invitations, including Barbados. My relations with R. King were restrored successfully several years ago and today they don't block anything.

Mr. Alan Millhone is a "mediator person" this time and probably he can tell us something optimistic

Sponsor need to be ... founded !

Anyway - In the meantime I am expecting an official letter or email from World Checkers and Draughts Federation (WCDF) and then I reconsider my calendar this year. I promised my kids something this year.

No 100% official news, but after exchanging by emails I can say that we have preliminary agreement to play match on Barbados at the end of May - beginning of June covering Memorial Day

Bid is still subject to be determined and Ron King and his wife work hard with sponsors now. I accepted this "preliminary agreement". Everything will be finalize timely in the next couple months.

My deep sympathy to Ron King, his wife and family for losing recently a family member. This was actually the reason why we didn't hear from them quite a time.

Sincerely,

Alex Moiseyev

Its great news that you got a reply from Ron and the match will most likely go ahead as planned. Its unfortunate the loss of a family member,we can all sympathise with that.

This match needs to be played in so far as that after, it will be an end of a great saga betwen you both and the end of a time in draughts that has been both controversial and uplifting for the game, whoever triumphs.

I f Ron wins then the pot will still be on the boil, should he not then i cannot see where any serious challenge might come from for a long time

So my the best man win!!.But most of all i hope draughts is the real winner.

Last news.

Today I had received an email from WCDF (World Checkers and Draughts Federation) President Mr. Devlin who informed me officially that 3-move World Title Match has been postponed to September - due to the fact that no bids has been made until now.

Respectfully,

3-move WCM 2007

Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

For everyone who concerned ...

We came to the final stage of negotiatons and setting match. As of today, two official bids submitted to WCDF - Barbados and American, and WCDF is going to make a final selection in the very nearest future (1-2 weeks ?). After then we'll finalize details - dates / venue / etc, and match will be set.

American bid has preliminary dates proposal - September over Labor Date, Barbados bid - beginning of October ... or later this year, due to other circumstancies.
