Jan, The only constraint is that associations must be paid up before they can nominate anyone for the qualifiers. John.

At the moment the WCDF imposes no time limit. Maybe we should?

Its probably hard to impose a time that federations pay their subs to the wcdf by,yet they must pay by a certain time to allow players to play in the qualifier, and to be fair to the organizers, they need to know early whose coming for sure. Its really difficult to organize a qualifier, especially when sponsors are involved. Before they give money, they need assurances that this amount of people are coming, and are definately coming. Its all such a gamble, which could leave the organizers out of pocket bigtime.

John, previous year it was deadline - April 1st. It is changed this year ?

I remember - I was ready to pay $100 for Turkmenistan, because WCDF were unable to wait couple more days. Hopefully, the problem was resolved

I also don't understand - $100 is membership in the World Federation, or entry fee to Qualify Toiurnament ?

It is for membership, but a federation that has not payed its contribution is not allowed to sent players to the Qualifier as I understood.

The entry fee for the Qualifier is a different thing, and as I understand is merely a matter of the organizing federation (may include Hotel, food, transportation etc.).
Entry fees can be paid close to the begining of the event, as I remember, but that was in 2005, and might be handled differently by the ACF.

So, if federation don't pay $100, it's membership will be cancelled and they have to resubmit application next year, correct ?

Now im confused John, Kim has just mentioned cut off date, under tournie heading in here, march 1st to pay wcdf dues.Does that mean ive missed out in playing in the world qualifier, because i havent sent my dues yet, probably due to still deciding whether im still coming or not.New Zealand doesnt have a strong enuff body of checker players yet to pay 100 towards WCDF dues, which means us players have to find the money individually.

Hi jan . I havent been able to get on untill now. We can pay to the ACF treasurer, AS this position has just changed to Jonathon Chappell. I can imagine he has alot to do. But he has e-mailed me ( 10 minutes ago  ). And he assures me, that he knows of our position and will check to see the best way to pay though ACF site.... now that is helpful :)

You are welcome Jan. It will be a great contest with you, Kim Willis, Wilma Wolverton and Joan Caws playing. I will be on pins again awaiting the results.
