Isnt it something to behold a man with the expertise of Jim Loy explaining to us in plain spaek about the proper way to do it...Thanks Jim,unfortunately for me being a Gaelic taught speaker (in my youth) my grasp of English grammer was always a weakness so its nice to hear Jim put in ordinary mans terms.

Maybe Alex should have emp{Loy}ed Jim hehehe!! and Phantom if only he d known,ah well!!, maybe next time he will be better armed.

SIXTH corrections - 10 in 8 months.

Post by john reade »

Tommy, A complicating factor is that the UK government wants us to use as much petrol as possible so they can get the tax on it. This means more and more cars on the road, as much congestion as possible, minimal investment in trains, etc. John.

Thanks John i dint see your post on that. But from a world wide perspective Alex the U.S. Gov.are not taking climate change seroiusly at all as it might cause the loss of jobs. Bush has ben a stumbling block to stoping millions of tons of carbon dioxide from being pumped into the atmosphere as he has doggedly refused to budge.Thats how its portrayed this side of the pond Alex.

Tommy,

Things changed recently after November elections, when democrats took control in both chambers of Congress. Now they are pushing G. Bush (and Republicans) seriously to take a serious consideration of global warmings, climate issues, ecology, etc.

This is how democracy works in USA - up and down    Many Americans (more than 50%) were seriously disagree with G. Bush policy on many subjects, including domestic and foreign issues, and this caused a Republicans lose across the counry at election time.

Gas Guzzlers

Post by liam stephens »

Hello Patrick,

I do not drive a motor car, as it pollutes the planet.
I go everywhere, either on foot or by bicycle.
Occasionally, I use public transport for longer journeys.
Unfortunately, it appears that Bush is afraid to take on the Gas Guzzlers.

Not only that Liam, but he is actually afraid to take on the American voters or to be seen to be unpopular, how ridiculous can this man get when it comes to saving the planet.

Well played in Sunes Ty Liam.

Thank you Tommy.

When visiting the beautiful city of Copenhagen, I was immediatly impressed by:
1. The hundreds of bicycles and cyclists throughout the city.
2. The absence of Gridlock.

In Dublin there is an electrified (eco-friendly) rail system known, affectionately, as the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit), not to be confused with the Tram system, known as the LUAS. A local wag even suggested that it should be re-named after the Finglas area of the city, but, fortunately, the officials of Dublin City Corporation declined his request.
