My Checker Library Is For Sale

Post by Dennis Cayton »

Greetings To All:

Due to some financial adversity, I need to sell my checker library.

I am unsure as to the best way to go about doing this.

I really don't want to go through the hassle of ebay at the present time.

How do you sell an entire checker library on ebay anyway?

By the standards of many experts and collectors, my library will undubtedly be seen as a modest one.

However, a few gems are included. My number one prize possession in my library is a complete set of Elam's Checker Board, hardbound, in mismatched covers. I also have over 20 years of the ACFB.

I think I will start off by inviting you to email me for a complete list if you are interested in seeing what I have for sale.

My email address is as follows:

starcap50@aol.com

My list will be sent to you in two separate email messages. My list is too long to accomodate the space of one email message.

In other news, I have rejoined the ACF after an absence of several years.

It feels like I am starting over and rediscovering checkers for the first time.

But I am back in the game.

Good luck to all.

Best Wishes,

Addendum

Post by Dennis Cayton »

Greetings To All:

I just wanted to add a couple of notes to my original message:

****If you are not in the market for any checker literature at this time, but would like to share some private advice with me as to how best to go about selling my library, please feel free to email me. My email address is as follows:

starcap50@aol.com

****One gentleman has already suggested that I sell my library as an entire set instead of on a piecemeal basis. I am now considering this idea and am now taking offers.

Email me for my list if you are interested.

If still interested, feel free to make me an offer.

Good luck to all.

Best Wishes,

My Library Is Still For Sale

Post by Dennis Cayton »

Hello Everybody,

Please forgive me for bumping up this thread for my own personal self interests.

I just wanted to announce once again that my checker library is still for sale.

Since I last posted I have managed to sell a few items. But only a few.

I have also committed a few more items to another buyer. But once again, only a few.

The financial adversity I described earlier still remains. However, the time I have left available to resolve this adversity is running short.

I'm not trying to play the sympathy card here. I'm just telling it the way it is.

For this reason, the prices on my library list are not necessarily etched in stone. They are negotiable.

What I would prefer to do is to sell my remaining items as an entire unit. This will greatly reduce my postage and handling costs.

Any and all reasonable offers will be considered.

If you are interested in seeing my list, please feel free to write to me at the following email address:

starcap50@aol.com

Good luck to all.

Best Wishes,

Dennis Cayton

Hi Tommy!

Thank you very much for your good luck wishes.

I had the pleasure to meet you in person at one of the Las Vegas national tournaments a few years ago.

Needless to say, I especially enjoyed the night out we spent with Mac Banks at the O.G.

As you may recall, there was one other checker player who came with us, a chap who has since fallen into some disrepute.

Since you already know who he is, I won't mention his name.

Sorry for the unnecessary tangent.

Thanks again for your message and good luck wishes.

I hope all has been going well for you.

Take care and good luck.

Best Wishes,

Thanks for the reminder Denis, i remember it so well ,and i have the pictures to prove it too...........hahahah it was good craic.

I think the late Les Balderson was with us also?. Its good to hear your making a come-back. You were one of the main exponents of the "Starship" which done great work on the then "Barred Openings" .We managed to open up alot of those doomed ballots over that 5-10 year period, for which you received practically no credit at all...shame.

Im a lone voice in the wilderness!! (thankfully supported by Sir Alex and a few others) ,calling for recognition of men like you Mac Banks and others who done tremendous work on the "Starship" to be acknowledged with the breaking of these those bucking bronc ballots.

So when the WCDF are handing out those GrandMaster certificates framed and all, the brave men on the Starship should be proudly presented with the Mail equivelent = The M.G.M. Enough said.

Thank You Tommy

Hi Tommy,

Thank you very much for your very kind and complimentary words.

They are deeply appreciated, much more than my mere words can express.

I woke up one morning with this inspiration to use Star Trek and Star Wars metaphors to promote the unexplored barred openings, the "final frontier of 3-move checkers."

The rest was history.

Getting back to that night in Las Vegas and at the O.G., the late Les Balderson did not come with us.

What you might remember is that the chap who did come with us tried to pick an argument with Les Balderson immediately after our taxi drove us back to The Four Queens.

Is this coming back to you now?

Thanks again for your very kind and complimentary words.

Take care and the best of luck to you.

Best Wishes,
