Looks like a good event with many fine players and the English seem to be very good hosts, as all leading players r schottish or welsh ;-)

I hope the game of the event will be published anywhere.

I spoke to Donald Oliphant tonight who informed me that with 2 rounds to go the 1st five are

1 Jim Grant 28
2. Tom Watson 27
3. Donald Oliphant 22
4. francis Mcnally 21
5. Lindus Edwards 20

Jim and Tom have already played each other. So four games to go and only 1 point in it. It would be nice to see Jim win I do not think that he has won the English Open before. He is a fine player and a very nice gentleman and deserves to win.

I bet and backing for Tom. I heard he had health problems in the past few years, but I hope - he recovered back to his level. After Richard Pask retired, Tom today is #1 active UK player.

 I was very happy to see that my good friend Lindus made it to this fine draughts tournament. I know that he was looking forward to it very much, but like many of us he had a few health concerns to consider in making his decision as to whether or not he should go. Just being able to be there and competing in this tournament, which shows a lot of strength of character, makes Lindus the all around winner here. "Mr. Checkers"
