The tournament is not over ! We are playing checkers not only for fun and/or enjoyment, but also for study and improvement  After the tournament finished, it's a right time to review and analyse. Below are some "Express Review" of my games from PA State Open 2007.

=================================================================

A. Moiseyev vs B. Runge
Round 2, G1

Diagram #1 .............................. Diagram #2
Image ... Image
Red to move ............................. White to move

See diagram #1. Here I missed a win 2-7 and white eventually runs out of moves. Instead, I played 16-20? and game continued: 32-27, 2-7, 21-17, 4-8, 18-15, 5-9, 23-18, 7-11 and we reached position on diagram #2. I expected here continuation 25-21, 11-16, 27-23, 20-24, 15-11, 8-15, 18-11, 24-27, 11-7, 27-31, 7-3, 31-27, 23-18, 16-23, 3-7, 10-15, etc with Draw, but I wanted to play this position a little bit.

Anyway, instead all these beauties on diagram #2, my opponent ... resigned !

More later ... I will continue to add more games from PA 2007. Stay with me !

Sincerely,

Alex Moiseyev

 Alex my coments refer to the Pa. St. Ck Ty. itself; not to your games or to any analysis ot them. Your games will be there for many years to come, which I know will be useful to others and hopefully you will be on the scene for many years to come also; but if something is not done soon the Pa. St. Ck. Ty. may not. That is my major concern here. "Mr. Checkers"

Unless PA fund is alive - we are OK  :P :D We had a short meeting after ty, and decided preliminary to stay in the same new hotel next year. All we need - just one extra phone call, which Richard and Alan promised to do.

And don't forget about rotated "Alex PA trophy" !

Sincerely,

Alex

Hi, Mr. Checkers ! You probably are not aware, but Tony told me several years ago (at the end of 1990's), that there is a PA fund, around $10,000, and an annual interest from this fund goes every year to PA State tournament.

To the best of my knoweledges this fund still exists (Tony perhaps is a trustee) and we use it every year.

Sincerely,

Alex

Concerning the points for a "Bye". It always seemed fair to me when 4 points were awarded in the first round only. After the first round, then 3 points. After the first round, if you get a bye you are in last place and 3 points is more than enough for being there. In the first round you have no control of getting the bye.

Best regard,
Wayne

 Alex that fund does still exist, but it is safe and under my control here. The bank in Pa. was charging the trust fund a considerable amount of money just to service this trust fund account, so "there is no longer any $10,000" left in this account as a result of this. An after I found out about this situation I had the money transferred here where my bank does not charge anything to serve the account, so the Pa. St. Ck. Ty. will receive the full amount of interest money for their prize fund each year and it will for many years to come (and the original amount of the investment will not be decreased). "Mr. Checkers"

 Since Tony is the Secretary of the Pa. St. Ck. Assoc. you will have to ask him about that. "Mr. Checkers"

I am OK with information you told me. I was just curious that you are trustee and PA money are under your control and noone else has an access. You did a great job by saving a money from additional charges. I don't want to bother Tony with these questions.

 Alex I did all of this without Tony's knowledge a few years ago. If I had not taken action the Pa. St. Ck. Assoc. funds would be non-existent today because the bank would have devoured all of that money just to service the account. I did it because the Pa. St. Ck Ty. has over the years left me with a lot of wonderful lasting memories not to mention several really good friends like Tony, Louis, Ed, Fernie, Les, Elbert, Tim, John, Vince, Steve, Jerry, Dan, Sal, Harold, Norman, Doug, etc. just to name a few. "Mr. Checkers"

 Alex why would anyone other than the Pa. St. Ck Assoc. members want access to that money? "Mr. Checkers"

Ohh, OK ... I was wrong again. Any time I try to assume something logical - it appears to be wrong !

I suspect we are talking about two different funds. The one I heard about -belongs to PA Association and is under it's control, not private. And money which are on your account under your name and control - just private donation and has nothing to do with PA State Checkers Association.

I might be wrong again.

 Alex there is only one fund, which was set up many years ago as a trust fund for the use of the Pa. St. Ck. Assoc. And that fund still belongs to them--and the funds are in an account under that name--not in my account. "Mr. Checkers"

Now I've got a point, You are trustee and account holder, but PA Checkers Association fully controls things and tells you what and how to operate money. Tony must be poud of this.

Thanks for clarification.

BTW. Whats happened with money and account if something happened with you ?
