1.5GB RAM

Post by Michael Holmes »

I thought for sure for the full installation you had to have 1.5GB of RAM?

I have 512mb and I know you need at least 1.5gb of RAM for the full installation and I have a 80gb hard drive and it appears that you need at least 261gb of free space for the full installation. I plan on using an external hard drive for this. How fast was the external hard drive that the laptop user was using?

Tony is using it with 2gb RAM, an Intel T2400 processor, and a Maxtor 320gb external USB drive. The speed of the processor is no more or less important than it is using an 8pc db.

EDIT: I should also mention that I have compiled a 64-bit version of Kingsrow which I will make available via a download as soon as I have finished testing it. With this and a 64-bit version of XP or Vista, you can use as much RAM as you want. I'm using XP-64, and with 8gb of RAM the performance is striking. 64-bit XP looks and feels just like the normal 32-bit version, and it runs all my 32-bit programs without any problems.

64-bit Kingsrow is here.

I have place a 64-bit version of KingsRow on the web site. If you're running 64-bit Vista or XP you can use as much RAM as you like for database caching.
