Gerry Lopez Response
The following is a reply that Gerry wanted me to post on the forum for him.
" Alan, it looks like Don Brattin has misinformed Gene. As you know, the $2,500.00 was merely a required holding fee for the playing room and that money will be returned to the ACF at tourney time."
Since Gerry asked me to post for him I will now elaborate further on a couple of items. Dr. Beckwith has coming an interest check from the Joan Oldbury ACF Trust Fund for $2,850.00 for our upcoming GAYP Nationals. I also asked Dr. Beckwith to make a copy of the Franklin Federal check for ACF records. Don Brattin's Treasurer's report in the December 2006 ACFB lists amounts in each trust fund.
In Vegas I will be pleased to field any and all questions posed to me concerning ACF finances, etc. After the Nationals I may also write an article for our next ACF Bulletin. The bulletin is the only way to effectively reach the entire ACF Membership as many members do not have computers and I certainly don't want to miss anyone with my comments. Later this year I will ask our new ACF Treasurer to prepare and submit for publication a detailed accounting of all ACF finances since he took office. Jonathon is currently on his scheduled two week vacation and is out West.
Looking forward to seeing many of you in Vegas for our ACF Youth and National Tournaments.
Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President

Alan, many thanks for clarifying things. I can see only one negative thing here - 58 forum visitors read your post in 2 hours, and only 33
read in 24 hours my post about basic ideas and themes in "Strategy Section" of forum.
This simply means that most (not all) of them are much more interesting scandals, conflicts and dirties rather than checkers.

Greetings Alex,
It does seem that everyone comes out for a scandal.... but, you must admit that the "politics" of checkers has always been somewhat of a "curious fascination"....always.
I, tho', am glad to see more of your problems !!!
Thanx !!!

Greetings Mr. Checkers,

In my initial post,I did want to quote scandal...as in
Greetings Alex,
It does seem that everyone comes out for a "scandal"...
My bad !!
I don't know if there was a scandal or not.
Even so, it is an out of context interpretation of the point that Mr.Moiseyev
was making.
But, as far as open communications on these subjects, sometimes there are misunderstandings, and communication is, indeed, the beginning of understanding.
In this day and age, with instantaneous worldwide communication, misunderstandings can be addressed, and resolved/rectified rather quickly.
As opposed to the halcyon days of yore...
That is, years ago, issues would fester and boil for months, even years, and relationships could, and indeed were, shattered forever.

Re: Gerry Lopez Response
Alan mentioned I would be bringing $2850 interest from the Oldbury funds. The good news for participants is that the bank lady apparently made an incorrect initial estimate, and the checks I received total ~$4600 instead. Again, this part is only from the 2 Joan Oldbury funds. Prize fund will also include bid and entry fee money.

Re: Gerry Lopez Response
Lets make it clear ...
Bid is $5,000 + $4,600 interest from GAYP Fund + $1,500 for the first 5 places from Oldbury fund + entry fees.
Correct ?
Gerry has to give ACF $7,500 which includes $2,500 loan + $5,000 bid.
Correct ?

" Depleted" Joan Oldbury GAYP Trust Funds.
Hello ACF members:
Yes, the bank wrote Dr. Beckwith and made a mistake in interest calculations . Originally we thought the interest was going to be around $2,800.00 and now find we have checks coming for $ 4,616.07 for the Nationals and hope this meets with everyone's approval
All I can guarantee is that ALL ACF Trust Funds are 100% safe and secure .
Mr. Alex asks a question on Gerry's bid: The ACF has interest, 'private' donations to draw upon, entry fees, etc. that will more than make up his bid for hosting the Nationals.
In the future if anyone has any questions on the ACF, trust funds, etc. please contact me in the following ways:
Also any ACF member can consult the December 2006 ACF Bulletin and find a full ACF financial statement prepared and submitted by then ACF Treasurer Don Brattin. All those Trust Funds are still intact and still growing !! TheACF does leave in 10% off the total interest withdrawn for growth.

My millhone@wirefire.com will vanish in the next few months. Those of you who use the forum can either directly post on the forum or send me a private message from the forum. Most of you have found me pretty open and pretty responsive. Also if you want direct involvement in your ACF I suggest you run for one of the offices in 2 years. Develop your platform of making the ACF better and begin your campign anytime you see fit to let members know your desire to run. The past two elections I have had no opposition and would welcome any number who would like to run and take over for me as the next ACF President. Mr .Alex told me one time that when I stop being ACF President my game would improve:-)
I am not saying I will not run again ,but welcome others who might like to run and serve the ACF.

Re: Gerry Lopez Response
Alex, you may have counted the Oldbury money twice when you said:
**
Bid is $5,000 + $4,600 interest from GAYP Fund + $1,500 for the first 5 places from Oldbury fund + entry fees.
**
Total Oldbury fund money for GAYP use is ~$4600, but $1500 of this is specifically allocated to Top 5 finishers according to Oldbury's wishes. However, I may need to double-check all this.

Re: Gerry Lopez Response
Oldbury's wishes were that all the interest(-10%back to principal) goes to the top 5 finishers in the Masters divsion. That means in addition to the regular prizes the top 5 get $4600 split among them( to be determined by the prize committee). If you look in the old bulletins for the GAYP tys, you will see all the Oldbury money went to the top 5.
