WCM 2007 set up !

Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

Just received an email from the President of World Checkers and Draughts Federation Hugh Devlin. He officially informed me that WCDF Executive Committee voted and selected bid and venue. Match will be played on Barbados, October 1-14.

Venue: Frank Collymore Hall (Central Bank, Bridgetown)

The total amount of cash prize is still subject to be determined but it will not be less (approximately) than $6,000 which also includes $1,850 from American private contributions. Due to situation with sponsors it is very possible that we can finally hit $7,000 ! This is less than prize we had in Anderson, 2005 - $10,000 but much higher than prices in some previous years.

I am completely satisfy with WCDF choice and will be happy to play my first match on Barbados, which will help to promote 3-move style in this country.

Mr. Hugh Devlin will make an official public announcement in the very nearest future.

Sincerely,

Alex Moiseyev
3-move World Champion

Referee ?

Post by Alan Millhone »

Hello Mr. Alex:

I would imagine due to distance that Barbados will have a local referee for this match ?

Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President
American Checker Federation

Alan, Referee was selected earlier by me and Ron - yourself !!! All Referee expances (transportation + accomodation + food) were a part of bid ... unless you decline offer   :(

To Richard Beckwith:

Richard, would you agree to accept Jay contribution and combine it with other contributions before you send it to WCDF ?

Deal done ! All cotract issues were reviewed by all parties and agreed. No major problems experienced. Unannotated match games will be delivered to public 2-3 days after match and available in Internet and other sources.

Due to my very tied vacation schedule this year, match dates were slightly adjusted to September 30 - October 10. This trick would allow me to save one extra business day

I plan to arrive to Bridgetown late Friday after work, September 28, and take a rest on Saturday.

Regards,

Alex

Step #51 of this saga - two weeks prior match start, myself and match referee Alan Millhone are still waiting for tickets from Barbados Tourism Authority  Fun is growing !

Many thanks to Ricardo - Director of event - for all his time and efforts.

My preparation goes smoothly and I hope it will be a great match. Suki is not the one who ever gives up and certainly will try (third time  ) to return his title ... same with me.

Sincerely,

Alex

Wednesday, September 19, 2007 ... 9 days, 212 hours prior flight to Barbados - no tickets from organizers.

My chances to retain title without play are growing

Tommy, this is not a simple math, but algebra: there are only couple good flights from Columbus this day

I will continue to update my fellow forum colleagues with numbers - how many days and hours left until I retain my title for another 2 years. :hello1:

More later ...

In reality - if I (and Mr. Millhone) have to leave on Friday, tickets must arrive to my house (or email) no late then Thursday, September 27.
