Mr. Gene Lindsay
Hello Checker /Draughts Players:
I just now put in a call to Mr. Gene Lindsay and Betty answered. In this morning's mail Gene had sent me a very large packet of older ACF papers that I opened and briefly viewed. I was so pleased that I decided to call Gene and thank him . Earlier a week or so ago we had a phone conversation and he apologized for his forum remarks and I also apoligized for my behavior on the forum. Neither of us set good examples for the youth and others who read the forum.
After chatting with Betty I asked to speak with Gene and she told me that she thought I knew................. Mr. Gene Lindsay around 10:30 AM today died of a heart attack! I could not believe what I was hearing from Betty! I am so glad Gene and I made our ammends .
Let me state it is no good to hold a grudge nor belittle anyone. If Gene and I had not made up I would hold a terrible thing in my heart from now on. Let us all try and be good to each other and respect each other at all times. We are all frail humans and we all fail each day. But each of us should strive to do better. I told Betty I would post the sad news on the forum.
" AT LAST MY TROPHIES I LAY DOWN "
Sincerely:

Re: Mr. Gene Lindsay
O boy
His last wishes and dream were - to hold USA 3-moves National 2008 in Lebanon, TN. He was a real and true patriot of checkers and ACF and wanted to see them both in perfect conditions, running well and getting progress.
Hard to beleive, he was so young, very close to my age. His level improved in the recent years and he jumped from "average master" to "strong master".
O no ... So great lost ...

I had met Gene on many occasions. I respected him very much. He will be missed for sure!!! I offer my prayers for his family.
Sportsmanship is more important than a win any day Better to be known for word and honor than a win
Re: Mr. Gene Lindsay
When I spoke to him in Las Vegas he was sincerely interested in helping the ACF.
This is indeed sad news, Gene's family will be in my prayers.

Wow...I feel horribly. I was supposed to get together with Gene and Matt Finley this summer and play a few games but never got time to do so. Gene had a very inviting and gregarious personality, and he will be missed.

this is really a shock to hear.I recieved a letter from Gene just this week and this i will hold as a rememberance of a person who was always nice to me and always a gentleman.Even tho sometimes we over react on somethings we all should forgive each other. This is really sad.He i am sure will be missed.

We received this painful news Thursday evening around 6PM at our Burlington Checker Club. We are lost for words. Gene was loved by all of our NC and VA players. He was always at our tourneys and supported checkers generously. We will dearly miss him and express our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. JR Smith, Secretary NC Checker Association

Very sad news. I met Gene and Betty at the Danish Open earlier this year, which he won in fine style. On behalf of the Irish Draughts Association may I offer our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
