WQ Point Total after 5 Rounds

Post by john reade »

Am I right in thinking that the ladies will have 6 rounds? And the men 8 rounds?

Hip hip horray!

Jan, you r the first player ever to win a GAYP and a restricted Qualifier.

May your match in 2008 against Amangul Durdyeva be a good match!

Standings in men's section after 6 rounds:

1. Lubabalo Kondlo 16,
2/3. GM Jack Francis 15,
IM Richard Beckwith 15,
4. IM Tim Laverty 13,
5.-8. GM Ed Bruch 12,
GM Jim Morrison 12,
IM Michael Holmes 12,
IM Clayton Nash 12,
9. IM Joe Schwartz 10,
10. Sune Thrane 3

Looks like my prediction, that Kondlo is the favourite, provided he attends, was a good prediction.
BUT:
He has to face Francis and Beckwith in the last rounds if I am right, and these games will decide the final outcome.
Note:
Kondlo also has an advantage in S/B, as he did not play Thrane, in contrast to Francis and Beckwith.
Remarkable:
Only the first and last on the table r players without titles!
Also note that Africa leads America, but Europe is trailing. GO, Sune, GOOOO!

Greetinx from cloudy Dortmund, Germany to all participants of the Qualifier, and to Alan Millhone who does a great job in putting the results on the forum!

Congratulations to my good friend Jan Mortimer on a wonderful performance. Clearly it was a very tough event with Wilma and Kim playing well.

Thanks friends for your good wishes, i must say every game was hard fought, Wilma and Kim played wonderfully well.Having a great time in Vegas.Enjoying the company of Sune Thrane who ive got to know finally in Vegas after playing him on the internet for a few years.Mac Banks took Wilma, Kim, Sune and myself to an Italian restaurant last night, we all had a great time.I must say i really enjoyed the Welsh open, and meeting Lindus finally. It was a great experience, and all the players were great.Have to go now, more later.
