Pool about WCM 2007.

I am setting a pool here and your input is highly wanted and appreciated. Do you think me and Alan will get tickets to Barbdaos on time (as promised in the bid) and match will be played, or you think tickets delliver will be failed to meet deadline and match will be cancelled ?

My personal choice was #1 - as a cautious optimist  I still believe that match will be played.

Dear Alex,

Don't worry about the ticket issue.

It is simple:

1. If they arrive, you fly and play your best.

2. If they don't arrive, you can't lose your title, as you did everything possible to defend it, you even accepted to play on the opponents "home ground" and the organizers will be rightly blamed.

The thing is: you can't lose anything, if someone loses, then it's Ron King, as his chance to grab the title is gone.

Don't you think that Ron King will do everything he can do to ensure the fight?

That is why I predict that the tickets will arrive.

Don't let these kind of uncertainties have any effect on your game or preparation, then you r in a "win/win" position!

Greetinx from sunny Dortmund and all the best to you for the match!

As of today it seems like Alan wife can miss her trip to Barbados  Alan also is a great optimist, and trust to Ron King who promised to pay for both. Today, when prices jumped up significantly and are about $1,000 (instead $500- $600 several weeks ago) it is quite expensive.

Yet to the moment neither me nor Alan have tickets. Fun is growing  The only thing seriously bother me: if match will be called off - I'll be named as "2-times World Champion" or "3- times World Champion" ... ?

No analogy in history

What do you think would be more proper ? Keeping it still as "2-times" may cost me an extra two years to beat Tinsley and Hellman records

According the most recent results of pool - the number of people who believes that match will be play is growing. This is certainly a great news and indicates that number of optimists (including myself) in checkerdome is hight enough

For my fans I can say - my preparation goes OK and I feel confident about final outcome if match will be played.

If only hed got that "ticket to ride"
and got to Barbados and won with a smile
passing Tinsley and Hellman
somewhere up in the clouds
and taking their record as well in his stride.

But things didnt turn out like that as you know
Alex was grounded thru no fault of his own
i know it unfair but what can you do
and the 3 times? world champ again becomes 2

If theres a lesson to be got from all of this
its lifes never easy nor handy nor bliss
and checkers some say is only child's play
but for Alex Barbados is light years away.

So well see you in Ireland well sharpened up
sometime in Oct. for a good auld knees-up
against Watson,McCosker or King, make your play
to help drown your sorrows of this sad masquerade.

Liam and Tommy poems will be added as well. This would make Sixth Vol2. more attractive and not only for checkers players

BTW. Tickets or email are still on the way. 5hr, 28 mins left before deadline. WCDF should cross fingers and pray :D

1hr 25 minutes after deadline. Now clocks are ticking for WCDF which should say it's word.

We are back to where we were 6 years ago  Read Sixth, Appendix C "Three-Move Title Controversy", Pg. 365-372. Only Champion names changed, but not much attitude !

I hope my preparation for match were not for nothing and I am fully armed now for my exhibition match with Hugh Devlin, and hopefully - Irish Open. I hope organizers and directors / patrons of Festival kindly provide me this small moral compensation and allow me to play in Irish Open along with other activities - match with H. Devlin and Simultaneous Record Attempt.

I am wondering now if Ron still plan to come to Ireland    after unprecedent disrespect he showed ... and not only to me and title I owe, but also to match referee Alan Millhone , WCDF, checkers fraternity and Barbados people.
