As soon as an official announcement (whatever) will be done through email - it will be posted on ACF website.

Understood.

Mr. Moiseyev

LOL   .....maybe...?

Still, overall, very sad it did not happen as planned, for whatever reason.
IMHO...the hilite of Checkers on any given year is a 3 move World Championship Match ( if it happens in that particular year), and it seems as through no fault of your own, there will not be one this year as planned....
as I stated, just sad. :( :(
I was looking forward to seeing the games from Moiseyev-King III.

Maybe some other time...?

[b:e92f47aea4]From usacheckers.com main page:[/b:e92f47aea4]
[quote:e92f47aea4]28th September 2007

The process of establishing a match between defending World Champion (3 move restriction) Alex Moiseyev (USA) and challenger Ron “Suki” King (Barbados) began last year following the conclusion of the World Qualifying Tournament held in Scotland during July 2006. No bids were received at the closing date for bids (1st October 2006) to host this important match. The WCDF Executive Board agreed to extend the closing date for bids until 1st January 2007. Ron King announced his intention to submit a bid to host this proposed match in Barbados but no bid was made prior to this date. The Executive Board of the WCDF agreed to a further deadline to 1st July 2007 to allow for fresh bids to be submitted.

Two bids were received on this date, one from Barbados and the other from the USA. The two bids were similar in the conditions they offered. Following consultation the WCDF awarded the winning bid to Barbados. The bid proposed to host the match at the Frank Collymore Hall, Central Bank, Bridgetown, Barbados, from Sunday 30th September – 10th October 2007. An integral part of that bid was that airline flights would be provided to both World Champion Alex Moiseyev (USA) and WCDF official referee Alan Millhone (USA) to bring them to Barbados for the match. Details of names, addresses, telephone numbers and proposed departure dates were provided by these individuals. Their departure from the USA was scheduled for today, but for some reason no airline tickers have arrived. There has been no correspondence received by myself, Alex Moiseyev, or Alan Millhone from Barbados prior to this morning concerning any problems or requesting any postponements.

In view of this situation, and that Alex Moiseyev and Alan Millhone had made considerable changes in their personal, family, and work commitments in anticipation of departing for Barbados today, the WCDF have ruled that the Barbados bidders have defaulted on their commitments. The WCDF have no option but to cancel the match and rule that Ron “Suki” King has lost his right to challenge for the World Championship (3 move restriction) title for this cycle. No further bid is being sought.

This occurrence is unprecedented in the history of World Championship Matches and we apologise to those concerned that have worked hard to bring this match about.

Yours Sincerely:
Hugh Devlin. WCDF President

No apologizes.

Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

No apologizes were given to me and Alan Millhone. There were several emails on weekend afterward. Ricardo said, that he didn't have good experience to organize such events and at the time when bid was made (beginning of July) they didn't have a full sponsors approval.

Should we name this as ... "misleading" ... or there are better English words to describe this ?

Haseain King said that she doesn't know much about the story, just visited Internet recently (day or two after cancellation) and find surprisngly that match was canceled.

I am not sure if Ron knows anything at all. There is still a chance that he is sitting at the board and waiting for opponent.

WCDF also didn't apologize against me and Alan.

My work manager, when I canceled my vacation on Friday, said: "What is wrong with checkers ?" I was unable to provide him correct answer. Can you help me ?

Regards,

Alex

Alex, I'm confused by the previous post....if any apologizing needs to be done, shouldn't it be Barbados -- as they're the ones that had since July to get tickets and arrangements in place? I suspect a delayed match could have still been worked out via WCDF (as was done last year), but understand your vacation schedule did not allow it, which is understandable given the 2 weeks needed along with other commitments.

I can certainly understand the let down, as I'm sure you prepared hard in recent months to defend your honorable title.

I did speak with Ron over the weekend, and he is well aware of the current situation.

Not only. WCDF is in charge and fully responsible from what happened. They have to give me an opponent - and they did through WQT processing. They also have to provide a bid - and this was failed.

From Hugh message it's clear - he said that WCDF tried to give Barbados "even chances", which is in reality means - they refused to select a normal bid and selected a full FAKE bid which didn't have enough prove.

I suspect that there were nothing on Barbados done, except emails because Ron didn't have any plans and intention to play match.

Rich, contract and dates were discussed and agreed by the end of July. Since then dates were locked and cannot be changed. Any adjustments to dates means adjustments to contract. Changes to dates also means fiasco and failure of bid.

Everything should be ready in July when bid was made and selected - money, arrangements, schedule etc. It seems like they only started (maybe not at all!) doing or thinking something at the end of July.
rich beckwith wrote:but understand your vacation schedule did not allow it, which is understandable given the 2 weeks needed along with other commitments.
Match was canceled not because of my vacation, but because WCDF choose a wrong FAKE bid which didn't exist and had only promises on paper. This bid failed to meet requirements and promises they gave.

This has nothing to do with my vacation. I was ready to play.

This is good  and means - he is fully knowledgable and responsible what happened. Some ban must be given here and I am willing to raise this question on WCDF GM at the end of October.

Alex

Rich, you have to understand - I don't worry who is challenger, it is not important for me. All my official contacts are with WCDF.

And I have to ask them now - what happened, why happened, what next.

If you think WCDF should not apologize against me, Alan and fraternity - this is the greatest misunderstanding of Federation destination, goals and purposes. It is not a "control" body, it is "action" body.

Unless Federation feel responsible for everything happend, we'll continue to have situations like that.

If he didn't, then his wife is responsible, who had all communications and contact with WCDF and so-called organizers. Perhaps she didn't tell Ron anything about development and problems, or maybe she did something which he wouldn't approve ?

Patrick ... thats all already happened in the past. Ron gets older and still using an old tricks ... in game and behind arena.

Thats why he continue to be a loser.

To play World Title Match is not only my responsibility, but also - privelegy. This privelegy was revoked. Who is in charge ?
