Patrick, you are the first who asked this questionPatrick Parker wrote:however what should be done?

The correct answer is - bid selection processing must be completely revised and changed. Federation should require from bidders approve information - letters from sponsors, companies, hotels, building administration ... whatever ... etc
Federation should not accept any promises, and bid should not depends on FUTURE contributions or any other FUTURE deals. If bid not finalize yet - extend deadline or reject it.
In this case such junk, fake, trash bids like we had one from Barbados this year would be rejected even before selection.
Clear.

I am sure that this disappointig situation is one that those responsible in the WCDF will not forget.
Next time they will certainly prefer organizers with a good reputation, and don't forget that the Barbados bid looked good, but now in the light of what happend, their reputation has suffered.
I think next time the repuattion of the organizers and the events they staged in the past will be more empasised, as well as the reputation as sponsors and the solid financing.
Don't forget the WCDF is still only 4 years old, and just barely learnt to stand on his own feet.

Re: Pool about WCM 2007.
Just my two cents in this all, but ..
like in many other world championship events of other sports, WCDF as the administrative organ should follow up closely with Barbados to make sure that progress is made and that the event is in no danger at any time.
Will the Barbados was granted the winning bid, does responsibility not stay with the WCDF, and should they not appoint an oversight committee to follow up and stay in close contact with the organizers?
Apparently there was little or no communication between WCDF and B., as the cancellation was for everyone a complete surpirse.
If this is the standard procedure in these kind of matters, (or lack there of), then that is an unfair situation towards the existing ttle holder, and a showing of disrespect towards the checker players around the world and the game as a whole.
Am confused, everyone was in the understanding that the match would happen.. till the very last moment .. and then NOTHING ..
It seems all very amateurish to me.. is that what the WCDF has become.. amateurs..?

Childish and liers.

I am talking about everyone - fraternity, players and Federation. Because I am a member of this fraternity - this is apply to me as well. I am a small kid too.
Ingo also supported this when said that Federation is 4 years only and need more time to grow up !

As a small kid I thought that people do not lie and provide junk, trash, fake information and promises, or ... once promises done - try to make them real. As a small kid I thought, if someone lie - other people do not accept their lies. As a small kid I was hoping that apologizes would be given to me after match cancellation. As a small kid I thought that the situation will be analyzed and responsible people punish.
Hence! ... I forgot again that responsibility is for adults only. How we can seriously punish kids ?
As a small kid I thought that Federation suppose to select the best bid which meets all conditions, criteria's and requirements. But, instead, they followed very strange principle and consideration - "even chances". Why "even chances" were not given to American bid ? Or maybe someone is more even than other ?
Quote for my dear childish World Checkers and Draughts Federation:
Power is responsibility !

As longer we talk - I have more to sayPatrick Parker wrote:my o my

I am playing a practice stake match, 10 games, with Hugh Devlin - today probably #1 active player in UK & Ireland. In addition I may (this is still a subject to be determined) play in Irish Open.Patrick Parker wrote:so alex who are you playing in ireland?
At the end of exhibition, on the Holloween Day, October 31, I am playing simultaneously on 400+ boards trying to beat a Guinness Record - 387 boards, which was made by Ron King in 1998.
He played in Huston against school kids, won all games in nearly 3 hours and used skateboards.

Alex,
I am very much looking forward to your staying here for the night. It is a great honor to me that you have accepted my invitation. I think I may have a sign made, saying "ALEX MOISEYEV SLEPT HERE" I'd also like to say that if it were not for your generosity in allowing me to ride with you to the tournament I'd not be going.
Many thanks, "Pal"
