Howdy. A while back, there was a posting asking for a checker player's email address. And the reply gave the email address. I assume these postings are not encrypted in any way. There are programs called email harvesters which go through the Internet, including bulletin boards and forums, and collect email addresses. And the programmers then sell these email addresses to spammers (often telling the spammers that these email addresses were given voluntarily by the addressees). And so, posting an email address on the forum may flood the addressee's mail box with spam. Besides the spam problem, many people don't want their email addresses spread around to people they don't know.
The proper way to give out an email address is to send it in a personal message or to send email (which is better yet, as the personal message may not be encrypted?). At the bottom of each Forum posting is a PM (personal message) button, and perhaps an EMAIL button. Use one of these buttons to send the email address.
