" CODE OF CONDUCT " for forum users
Hello Forum users:
Want to do something constructive? Then post on my 'thread' on what you would like to see included in a forum 'Code of Conduct' . Keeps remarks to the point and no deviations..........
Dr. Beckwith, and myself will review all postings on this topic. Maybe a committee needs to be formed to formalize the code ?

one suggestion:
...at least have a list of folks real names so if they
do post garbage they can be held accountable.....
(are these folks even ACF members??!)...etc
thanks...
Danno12
ps....if there is going to be a "secret society" of
200 elite checkers players maybe you can ask them
how the rest of us (paying ACF members!) feel about that!!...
Hello Danno12:
I personally like to see real names on this forum , like yours

Also any other group I belong to other than the ACF has nothing to do with this forum. The 'closed' group I belong to has little to do with Checkers. I think you may have mis-read an earlier posting ?
Today I have received some emails listing possible ideas for a " Code of Conduct" for this forum.

Hello Danno12:
You posting your real name tells me a lot about yourself, thanks.
Yes, you are right that new postings have been few and far between for some time now.
There is a Chess GM in England by the name of Nigel Davies and he has a Chess site at: http://www.tigerchess.com GM Davies gives 'on line' lessons for a fee. Not sure what his rates are, etc. as I have a hard enough time staying average in Checkers.
It would be nice if one of our current Masters developed a study plan, etc. and then gave 'on line' lessons for a fee. This has never been done before in Checkers (to my knowledge) ? An interesting concept for those of us who do not live near top players. I realize you can play on line and get tutored to some degree at play sites. But for a Master Checker player to develop a study plan and have students is an interesting concept and has potential .
I was lucky while attending college to have found a man by the name of Blynn T. Shafer who took an interest in my playing and he would set up problems for me to solve, do analysis with me and got me to playing the game properly in regards to visulaziation, study of lines of play, etc. He gave me a solid foundation and I am forever grateful to him.

Re: " CODE OF CONDUCT " for forum users
I stole this from another message board and modified it a bit:
1) No obscenity or pornography
2) No harmful links/viruses/tags
3) No posting of the personal information of anyone on the board
If you want to post your own personal information, that is up to you.
4) No spam
Here's the link to the USENET rules concerning this:
http://www.cybernothing.org/faqs/net-abuse-faq.html#2.1
5) No flooding
6) No illegalites.
The owners and administrators of the site reserve the right expand these rules as necessary to protect themselves from civil and criminal liability.
7) If you're contemplating behavior or language of the kind that would get you thrown out of the local bar/church, don't.

Perhaps an easiest way could be - if every post has been sent to moderator, review, edited (if necessary) and then posted in forum. It maybe a short delay 1-2 days, but this would guarantee 100% matching to CODE OF ETHICS.
Think about - this is not very far from what we have now, but all conflicts will be gone !
Respectfully,

Hello Mr. Alex:
Now really

Aside from that if the moderators decided (censored) every post that would eliminate a lot of spontaneous replies (might not be a bad idea) ? Anyway a new and permanent " Code of Conduct" is being drafted for this forum. Also I request that all new persons wanting to join the forum use their real name from now on. I like to know who I am dealing with and so do others.

Hello Josh:
What is wrong about using real names on this forum ? On the play sites one can use a multitude of names, but not on here.

Josh Armstrong wrote:It's just not practical to have that rule. People will try to cheat the system, or share names like I am right now. We need practical rules that can easily be enforced. I don't see how using names will help in the long run. People are naturally hateful, this just hurts the true checker fanatic.
Hello Josh:
Share names ? You only use one name on this forum, right ? A person would have no earthly reason to ever use more than one name .
A " Code of Conduct" will make the forum much easier and am sure you will love the new code.
I disagree that people are naturally hateful. Some are, but they won't be on here much longer.

Re: " CODE OF CONDUCT " for forum users
Hi Alan and Dr. Beckwith,
Please remove my membership (and posts if you could) from this forum. As I told you both in July before the Youth Nationals, I would become inactive in both in tournaments and in the ACF. Now my request is to be completely removed.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan
P.S. In case others are curious, I will also no longer play on the Website kurnik.org.

I guess those remarks were meant as a jokes? I thought it funny the other day, when I read "Our newest member Josh Armstrong" , knowing Josh already had 3 other registered user names ("Jolt.", "joshua armstrong" and "Jolt..", maybe more, I don't know?) I couldn't help but to think "how many names does one person need?Hello Josh:

Hi Josh,
You are absolutely correct in saying "...I am not breaking any rules." I didn't miss that fact. I don't know that I care how many names you register under, I just don't understand the need or want of it. I only mentioned it because Alan brought up the subject "tongue-in-cheek".
I like your logo or icon , whatever it's called, it's cool.

Re: " CODE OF CONDUCT " for forum users
Hello Josh:Josh Armstrong wrote:What I'm saying is, the person who used Jolt is not Josh Armstrong. Because Alan felt the need to exert his dominance, now two-three people have to share this name. Whatever reason he gives will be inconsistent with his actions.
There was as forum members; Jolt. and Jolt.. and 'Joshua Armstrong' and till now you never told me or anyone that these names were not yours ? How am I exercising dominance by cleaning up the member list ? You should be eleated that now we simply have 'Josh Armstrong' as a individual forum member

" Exert his dominance" ? To monitor the forum and keep the member list updated to me does not show dominance. Also explain how two-three people will 'share' this name? There had only be one person using your name on this forum.
If you have ligit complaints list away, but to simply complain .........................

Re: " CODE OF CONDUCT " for forum users
i agree with josh. everyone should be entitled to their own username. i really don't think real names would be an issue, i would prefer a more anonymous forum, but that's just me. this code of conduct won't work out. acf should be more concerned with finding a sponsor. haven't we been searching for years now? and still no?
