Alex, in fact the costs r even higher!
What about entry fees, restaurant meals (you cannot eat cheaply at home while away for a ty), letters and phone calls to confirm your participation.
Also you did not take into account the money you r spending for preparation (buying books, computer time, and the quality time you have sacrificed that you could have spent with your family or another hobby).
All in all your estimation is biased for good and shouls be even higher!

If you consider that other players in other countries, like me, never win money in a ty, and have even higher expenses for travel costs, you have a pretty good number of how valuable the game of checkers is to a checker player.

Maybe you and especially Mr. Checkers should consider it that way :kermit:

Tommy, Mr. Checkers do not patronise me, he patronise checkers ! He does terrific job to promote checkers and I really don't know if without his help checkers could survive

Concerning expanses ... Ingo, you are right - if we need to know "business index" for checkers - how profitable it is - we have to consider other players who doesn't win prices and also players from other countries. This may give us a better picture and help with calculations.

Even more worse - some players bring wives, which is extremely expansive !

Marriage also seems to be not a profitable business

Sincerely,

Alex

Alex,

I always thought you were married to a beautiful Maid of the Mill :lovestory:

Or do you prefer Ayrshire Lassies ?

As a matter of fact, checkers has also something to offer to our female players, provided they like Nailors or Souters or that they would give their heart away to "Denny".

As you see: checkers it is a very romantic game, and just like love: who cares for the costs ?

The Russian joke says:

- Did you married because of love, or some other considerations ?

- Of course love ! No other considerations or reasonable explanations exist.

Thanks JR. I like the way you putted the results into cross-table. All pictures are fantastic. My pictures are OK but too realistic and unfortunately people may get a right  impression.

But photography shouldn't follow exactly an original image  and can do something more
