From $10,000 (or close) principal this appear as 0.5% annual return.JohnAcker wrote:To clarify, the Dan Frank fund contributed $50 to the prize fund.

It's all goodJohnAcker wrote:Yes, that sounds about right; Rich would have the exact figures. The payout was also distributed among all the players, though a couple chose to donate their prizes into next year's fund.Alex_Moiseyev wrote:From $10,000 (or close) principal this appear as 0.5% annual return.JohnAcker wrote:To clarify, the Dan Frank fund contributed $50 to the prize fund.

Re: Pennsylvania/District 3 Tournament
This discussion points to the weakness and misguided direction the ACF has taken and is currently taking. The ACF does not have rules or even jurisdiction of state titals or tourns. There is no SET STANDARDS for state tourns and for that matter many states do not even recognize the ACF. We all wonder why the ACF is in the state that it is and the above post are very reveling. The ACF is without structure or standards. Compared to chess we are a pitiful group. From our rules and regs to the way we treat young players and women; it is any wonder to me that we still have the 75 to 150 active players we still do. I wont even get into how and where the moneys are kept and accounted for in the ACF. Might consider disbanding(what to do with the money where ever and whoever is in control..good luck with that) and starting over from the state level out. So much for that....but the above post really does point out the glaring problems the ACF has had in the past and currently still has.

WOW ok to clarify........ I was talking about ALL the above posts, yours included, but you do bring up another point quite well. As you clearly show, the ones left at ACF, quickly jump to degrade other people. But I am a old coot with broad shoulders...so jump on to these shoulders and let your rant go. So to make my first post easier for you to understand, I was stating that I personally think the rules and the way tours are run leave a LOT to be desired and as far as ACF money..... well I am glad mine is not handled by ACF.

No we are not.ae_ted wrote:Compared to chess we are a pitiful group.
If you've followed the troubles of the US Chess Federation (USCF) over the past several years (absolutely vicious lawsuits and countersuits costing thousands upon thousands of dollars, allegations of financial impropriety, declining membership, monumental infighting among the elected board board members, and many other things) we actually look pretty good and certainly more civilized.
Checkers simply needs to be revitalized and somehow lose its completely undeserved reputation of being a game for only "children and old men" (quote from Dr. Jonathan Schaeffer). I realize this is a recognized problem (Pask even mentions it in Starting Out in Checkers) and there are, I guess, reasons for it, but I don't have any workable, realistic ideas on how to change the game's image. I wish I did...checkers certainly deserves orders of magnitude more respect than it gets.

I ain't degrading anyone, ya old coot ......and I have no rant.........I just wanted to see Dan Frank's name mentioned as a contributor to the PA Tourney fund.
My wishes have been granted.......
Perhaps you should consider running for ACF President, shake up what you perceive to be these undesirable rules and the way the tournaments are run....????

Hello Jay :
You bring up a good point about others running for an ACF Office the next election. It would be nice to see others ( with viable ideas) run for an exec. position, etc.
Sincerely:
