Irma, this is not a quesion for Tommy, or even directors and organisers or WCDF - this is question for sponsors of event. They have money and made decision - how to spend them.
You have to figure out who are sponsors and tell them how they need to spend their money next time.
All this topic about Lubabalo Fund shall not be a part of Tournament Session and must be removed from here. It has nothing to do with tournaments. Maybe General Session will be better place for it.
Regards,
Alex

To Bernard Coll
I have 2,100 pesos a week to spend in things i have to pay on cash, plus the credit card for supermarket, costco or SAMS...or maybe for a dress, gift or dinner, etc...
To Alex Moseyev
So, the prize is based in the sponsors donation, and what you are telling me here is that only who gets sponsorship are men...no?
In few words, Boghetti won 2,100 dls, and Toyeva 100 dls....wowowowow it worths a lot to spend 3,000 dls in going to the qualifiers.....so the WCDF money is not used for prizes for "normal" players, only for champs, no?

Yes, 2000 EURO are sponsors money and all quesions should be address them.Irma Sierra wrote:To Alex Moseyev

WCDF didn't put any penny in prices and all questions about this shall go to them. WCDF didn't give anything to champs and only awarded them by challenger rights to play world title match.
$100 to Toyeva and any other money came from sposnors, not even organisers.
Toyeva can't play in open division because only two players from country (WCDF member) can be endorsed.

This goes to everyone and nobody and to all, I am not talking about this thread but all threads....
I am always saddened when I see that topics here get very heated very quickly.
There's no need to be so defensive ....or agressive (most of us mean well)
Now about this specific topic......I can see both sides here ... and believe it or not I agree with both sides
Why? because they aren't mutually exclusive or in disagreement.
Irma I agree with you, women should get paid more, or exactly the same as the men and seniors and youth. But to achieve that it will take time and we need to increase the number of female competitors so that when we go to a sponsor we can ask for more money.
Mister Coll, while sometimes we may be right in what we say, and we may have a point, we could say things in a nicer way, especially when addressing a lady.

D. Alvarez

Re: GM Lubabalo Kondlo 2011 GAYP Travel Fund
I can see all the federations are working in getting more women in playing checkers...the WCDF QT is a good example of it....
There are simple men, and gentlemen...thanks Daniel.
What I say may get some people upset, but if you think deep, you will see I am not talking with bad manners, or telling lies, I am asking as simple mortal how much money the WCDF QT woman champ made, why does this question touched the guts of men??? Accept it, checkers are for men, why? because men doesn't want women in the game, as simpe as that, men want men players and the older the better, but we old dinosaurs have to accept the world is changing and open our minds to it, to have 2 young players you think is good for checkers?...to have 3 women???....come on, you are closing the doors instead of openning them...am very sad, I was starting a latin federation just with the purpose to go to the qualifiers, very hard to get support, Hector Orozco a young mexican player and me were going to pay the 100dls to the WCDF for one year, we were trying to get memebers, we were able to pay al what was needed and then to pay for our expensive tickets to go there, me to play against who??, no women want to go now, ask the "few" women who likes to play checkers if they want to go again...oh well, enjoy the game SEÑORES!, THE GAME IS ALL YOURS!

Re: GM Lubabalo Kondlo 2011 GAYP Travel Fund
Just to set the record straight.
The WCDF did I believe contribute €1,200 to the QT prize fund. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and it may be that this should have been divided between the Women’s and Youth events, rather than spread thinly over the also – rans.
However, in view of the small entry in both those events that is a moot point.
The IDA bid to hold the QT was for €1000 to be split €100 each for the first 10 finishers in the QT main event, and €2000 for the Winner of the QT and next Challenger of Alex Moiseyev for the 3 Move World Championship, the €2000 to be handed over to the challenger on completion of the World Title Match. In addition the playing venue was provided free of charge and reduced accommodation rates secured with the Radisson Hotel. The WCDF accepted this bid and indeed the probability of any other bid for the QT materialising appeared remote.
At the time of the IDA bid it was by no means certain that there would be a separate Women’s section. That matter was left open, dependent on entries. Later when it transpired there would be a separate women’s section the IDA (though not obliged under the bid) raised €160 (€100 from auction of Oldbury Ency and a private donation of €60) and a further €60 came from the WCDF fund making a total of €220 for the Women’s section winner.
In conclusion I would like to pay tribute to the wonderful generosity and patronage of Sean Phillips who personally guaranteed and provided the €2000 for the QT winner.

Re: GM Lubabalo Kondlo 2011 GAYP Travel Fund
Irma, The women did not get 100 euros nor did the youth players. What we got was 60euros. It is like that no matter how many women 2, 3 , 4 this should not matter. But like you said it is a mans playing field. We as women have stepped over a line and probably they think we should be in kitchen cooking and cleaning. Times have changed. Everyone in Ireland was very kind. And I loved playing in the Irish Open. As for the WQ, someone else can go from now on. I will never attend another on sorry to say. And yes, irma the men have one once again. At this point there will be no women playing.
But I will attend the tourney's here in the states because I love the people I have met and I love the game.

Re: GM Lubabalo Kondlo 2011 GAYP Travel Fund
General Question to those who know ?
Wasn't 100 € for the women players advertised in advance and in writing ?
In reality this topic has gotten sidetracked as I want it to be focused on getting GM Kondlo to next year's GAYP ACF Nationals. Perhaps we can move further replies to a new topic or to Irish Open topic ?? Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
