I just noticed a potential error in the tournament results spreadsheet that I used to generate the HP in an earlier post in this thread. Tim Laverty was given a score of 2 for his bye in round 9 and I assume this should be corrected to 4. This will obviously have an impact to his score (bumps him up to 8th place from 12th), but will also change the HP slightly for other players. I will update this tonight.

I don't think it's an error. I saw one time cross table and it was two asterisks remark about 2 points to Tim: they were given him because of illness, not a real bye.

Yes, Tim had to go to the hospital. Fortunately it was nothing serious and he was able to resume play in the next round.

I'm probably going to sound cruel here, but why are they giving out any points to players who are unable to play? This is just one example. 3 players in the majors were gifted 2 points for leaving early before the last round, and another master player was gifted 2 points twice for whatever reason. There was money on the line and this seems a bit unfair.

Yeah, the free points got out of hand this year. Apparently there's a new rule about getting a two-point bye for the last round, but only for non-masters and only if the player physically leaves the tournament. It has the same effect as agreeing to two draws, but without having to wait for the pairings.

I've typed the round 1-8 games, and put them under an "Analysis>Games>Games of the 2016 National" subject. It seems to be at viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3725.

Maybe I have finished typing the games (at the link above). But I still have hopes that some of the incomplete games will show up.
